Zug celebrates the opening of the modernized SBB travel center!

The travel center at Zug train station will officially open on May 22, 2025. It is a comprehensively modernized SBB travel center located at city level directly in the train station. With a new concept that focuses on personal advice, customers can be served at various advice counters and tables instead of the traditional counters. The aim of this redesign is to provide better and more individual advice on public transport offers and leisure opportunities in the region.

The services offered at the new travel center include the issuance of tickets for domestic and international travel, the sale of subscriptions, various leisure activities, currency exchange and a luggage and lost property service. In addition, a range of items from the SBB Shop and the Zug Tourism Shop are provided. The team includes 14 employees and 10 apprentices, led by Franz Xaver Stöckli.

Services opening hours

The opening hours of the SBB Travel Center are Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 7:45 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. In addition, Zugerland Verkehrsbetriebe is open Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with reduced hours on Saturday. The Zug Tourismus has similar opening times, although it is closed on Sundays. Customers can also conveniently book consultation appointments via the SBB service website.

Reconstruction phase and temporary solution

Before that, an extensive renovation of the travel center will be carried out in the summer of 2025, which will begin on July 3, 2024 and is expected to take around 10 months. During this time, a temporary structure made of mobile, two-story containers will be set up at the exit of the train station on Dammstrasse. The temporary structures accommodate seven counters, which are also used by the partner companies Zugerland Verkehrsbetriebe AG, SBB and Zug Tourismus.

Despite the construction work, all essential services such as ATMs and lockers will remain in operation during the renovation. For the needs of taxi drivers, replacement parking spaces will be available in the parking lots opposite. The opening hours of the temporary facility are Monday to Friday from 6:45 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on weekends from 7:45 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The aim of the renovation is to create an even friendlier and more open consulting environment that meets the needs and wishes of customers.

In summary, both the planned opening of the modernized travel center and the necessary transition phase, which is characterized by the temporary arrangement, are important steps towards improving the quality of service at Zug station. Information about the project is below SBB news and that ZVB News available.
