Vintage car adventure: Erzgebirger drives 7000 km to the North Cape!

Eckehard Küchler has fulfilled a long-held dream: around a month ago, the 72-year-old set off for the Arctic Ocean in the GDR cult truck W 50 together with his grandson Moritz. This 7,000 kilometer adventure trip is not only a way for Küchler to realize his dream, but also an opportunity to share valuable memories with his grandson. As a professional driver who has been working since 1973 and has covered millions of kilometers, Küchler can now take it easy.

Another milestone in Küchler's life is the prize he won on this trip. The freight forwarder from Sehma in the Ore Mountains also presented his vehicle, an S 4000 with a red and white hood, at the trucker meeting in Münchhof. This, possibly the oldest of the vehicles gathered there, was manufactured over 20,000 times between 1958 and 1967 and is also part of Küchler's vintage car fleet.

Family trip on four wheels

Around 100 trucks took part in the trucker meeting. Küchler arrived with his classic car, a second truck and a camper. In a familiar atmosphere, the family spent their nights in and on the vehicles, including in the back of the S 4000. This type of travel enables Küchler to escape the hectic everyday life and spend valuable time with his son and four grandchildren.

Although Küchler has already traveled as far as Finland with his vintage car, he did so on a low-loader as it cannot keep up with modern trucks. But on this trip he proved that the love of classic cars and adventure don't have to be measured by speed. Rather, the focus is on experiences and time with the family.

Eckehard Küchler's thirst for adventure and dedication are inspiring and show that life is not just about the destination, but also about the journey and the people you share it with.
