Young people from Ho Chi Minh City show heroic gratitude in Ha Tinh
A delegation of youth from Ho Chi Minh City recently made a symbolic trip to commemorate Vietnamese mother heroes and war veterans in Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces. The event took place from May 27 to 29 and involved more than 114 members, including union members and youth. This trip is part of an initiative by the youth of Ho Chi Minh City to express their gratitude and pride to Vietnamese heroes and to honor President Ho Chi Minh's contributions to the Vietnamese revolution, such as vietnam.vn reports.
On the first day of the trip, incense and flowers were offered at historical sites such as Dong Loc Crossing and Ly Tu Trong Memorial. In addition, the delegation visited two Vietnamese hero mothers, two war veterans and two former youth volunteers, presenting gifts and awarding scholarships to 50 underprivileged students. Financial support for 40 families affected by floods was also part of the program. An exchange with the Youth Union of Ha Tinh Province rounded off the first day.
Memories and culture
In the following days, the delegation continued its visits to Nghe An Province. They stopped at the Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Memorial House, the Nguyen Du Memorial Site, as well as the Quang Trung King Temple and the Truong Bon Historical Relic Site. A special highlight was the visit to the home villages of President Ho Chi Minh, Sen and Hoang Tru. Finally, a cultural night entitled “From Ben Nha Rong to Uncle Hos Sen Village” was organized at the Kim Lien Relic Site, where participants celebrated the cultural roots and history of Vietnam.
Ho Chi Minh City, formerly Saigon, was renamed after the reunification of North and South Vietnam and is now a major economic center of the country. Tan Son Nhat Airport is the largest in the country and is served by international airlines such as Edelweiss, Turkish Airlines and Air France, making travel easier for tourists. There are various transfer options for the city center, including fixed-price taxis and bus route 152, which is available for just 5,000 dong (about 20 cents), reports urlaubstracker.at.

The city is home to numerous attractions, particularly in District 1. Notre Dame Cathedral is an outstanding French-style structure built using materials from France and is a popular attraction. For shoppers, the Ben Thanh Market offers a variety of stalls for trading, while the French colonial-style City Hall impresses, even though it's not open to the public. The Reunification Palace, also known as the Independence Palace, was the seat of the government of South Vietnam until 1975 and can be visited during opening hours.
For travelers looking for a beach break, Vung Tau Beach, Ho Coc Beach and Long Hai Beach are popular day trip destinations in the area. City travelers looking to stay close to central attractions will find plenty of accommodation options in District 1, from budget options like Town House 23 Saigon to more upscale hotels like the Liberty Central Saigon Riverside Hotel, which features a pool and spa.
