Kien Giang 2025: Phu Quoc attracts with new tourism offers!

Phu Quoc Island sees a notable increase in tourist arrivals in 2025 while preparing for the upcoming APEC summit. Ms. Quang Xuan Lua, director of Kien Giang Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center, announced the coordination of tourism enterprises to benefit from the new tourism stimulus plan. The aim of this program is to link innovative travel destinations and service products and to put together attractive product packages.

The summer tourism program includes numerous varied experiences designed to attract both domestic and international tourists. The message of the program is: “Vietnam – Go to Love,” with a focus on Kien Giang as a premier tourist destination. The province plans to promote the natural beauty, culture and history of Kien Giang and continuously improve the quality of tourism products.

Record numbers in tourism

In the first quarter of 2025, Phu Quoc welcomed nearly 500,000 foreign guests, an increase of 66.5% year-on-year. In total, more than 2 million visitors came to the island. The goal for the end of the year is to reach 1 million international tourists. This increase is attributed to improved infrastructure, targeted promotions and the island's stunning natural beauty.

Kien Giang Province already recorded over 3.1 million tourists in the first quarter of 2025, accounting for 28.4% of the annual target. Tourism revenue increased by 79.4% to over VND13.04 trillion (approximately $508.68 million). The province relies on balanced tourism measures and promotes sustainable development within the industry.

APEC summit and infrastructure improvements

Phu Quoc will host the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in 2027, encouraging the province to invest in infrastructure. Planned improvements include major upgrades to the international airport, hotels, resorts, entertainment facilities and transportation facilities. These developments aim to create a more professional and sustainable tourism environment.

On May 23, 2025, the Phu Quoc Tourism Association was founded and, according to Mr. Nguyen Vu Khac Huy, permanent vice president of the association, it now has 100 members. To further promote the tourism potential, two domestic Famtrip programs and international roadshow programs in Asia will also be organized. Efficient incentives to boost tourism, particularly in view of the APEC summit, are at the heart of strategic planning.

Overall, it shows that Phu Quoc and Kien Giang Province are determined to successfully meet future tourism challenges while remaining an attractive destination for travelers from all over the world. The developments of the last few months underline a clear strategy to increase tourist numbers and improve tourism products.
