Medical emergency on Aida Perla: Dramatic rescue on the Elbe!
Last Saturday, May 18, 2025, a worrying medical emergency occurred on the cruise ship Aida Perla. Just about an hour and a half after leaving the port of Hamburg, while the ship was heading towards Norway, a passenger needed urgent medical attention.
The DLRG Stade and the Stade fire department were immediately alerted to provide the necessary help. Two boats were mobilized for the rescue operations: the motor rescue boat “Kiek Ut” from the DLRG and the emergency boat “Henry Köpcke” from the fire department. They quickly made their way to the Aida Perla to reach the patient.
Rescue within a short time
The rescuers boarded the cruise ship as planned and were able to take the sick passenger through an open hatch while the ship reduced its speed. An emergency doctor and a rescue service crew who provided support on site also contributed to a quick and effective operation.
After the patient was safely brought aboard the lifeboat, he was brought ashore in Stadersand. An ambulance was waiting there to transport him to the nearest hospital. According to the DLRG, the entire operation went smoothly and without any significant complications.
Continuation of the journey
After this incident, the Aida Perla continued her journey to Norway almost without delay. The seven-day trip, scheduled from May 17 to 24, 2025, covers several fascinating cities, including Bergen, Åndalsnes, Ålesund and Måløy. Thanks to the quick response of the rescue workers, the cruise travelers were soon able to enjoy the full holiday fun again.
This rapid response and efficient coordination between emergency services underscores the importance of well-planned emergency measures on cruise ships to ensure the safety of passengers at all times. For detailed information about the incident reported tag24.de and t-online.de.
