Swiss travel 2025: Early bookers rely on comfort and planning!
The Swiss travel habits are shown in the new report of the Swiss Banker's travel study 2025. With around 1,600 participants, the study provides exciting insights into the booking patterns and preferences of travelers in 2025. It becomes clear that early planning and a careful selection of the travel destination are very popular with the Swiss. Comfort and security are central factors that are in the foreground when planning the travel.
The majority of travelers in Switzerland are planning their trips with a period of 4 to 6 months in advance. This shows that early booking is not only popular, but also the preferred method. Of the respondents, 61% state that they choose hotels as preferred accommodation, while apartments, hostels and campsites are also in demand. The location of the accommodation for 74.5% of travelers is the most important criterion that is taken into account when booking.
booking behavior and technologies
It should be emphasized that 43.3% of Swiss travelers book their trips online via the smartphone. This mobile use has increased in recent years, which is also evident in an increase of 12% when paying via mobile wallets. However, younger travelers between the ages of 18 and 24 show little interest in artificial intelligence (AI) in travel planning, only 18.1% use social media for their planning.
In terms of payment methods, 43.9% of the respondents prefer the credit card for their bookings. In addition, 65.7% indicate that free cancellations are (very) important to you. An interesting evaluation of the study shows that 36.1% of those surveyed have set a travel budget between CHF 2000 and 4,000, with 45.7% trips preferable with a period of 8 to 14 days.
sustainability and travel trends
The topic of sustainability plays a role, especially for the older generation. 34.3% of travelers between the ages of 65 and 99 actively deal with sustainability. This could indicate that awareness of environmentally friendly travel in this age group is more pronounced than among younger ones. At the same time, the numbers also show that 37.4% of all cancellations are made due to illness and 19.8% due to changes in the plan.
Nevertheless, the scope of travel remains unbroken. Although only 14.3% of those surveyed spontaneously book one month in advance and only plan 5.7% at short notice within a week, the majority shows that well -thought -out and planned trips are preferred. This also includes the decision whether to adapt accommodation or transport depending on the situation, which handle 42.9% of those surveyed.
Overall, the Swiss Banker's travel study 2025 shows that Swiss travelers book their trips well and planned. Innovative booking methods and growing awareness of sustainability shape the future of traveling in Switzerland.
