Oman presents itself as a country full of surprises that has much more to offer than just dry desert landscapes. Questions like “there is only desert in Oman?” replied to me before the start of the trip. There is indeed a lot of desert, but this alternates with kilometers of lonely dream beaches, breathtaking mountain formations and idyllic oasis towns. Every new landform that presents itself to me
revealed during my trip amazed me - wadis, the sea and the desert, I was able to experience all of this in just one day in Oman.

On our round trip we covered a total of 3,741 kilometers, from the north to the south and back again. The longest route took us from Salalah to Nizwa, once through the impressive stone desert
of Oman. An 879 kilometer long journey that fascinated us with its endless expanse.

Oman offers countless unforgettable experiences. From exploring the fascinating flora and fauna that range from breathtaking desert landscapes to rugged mountains and epic canyons, to desert safaris and scuba diving, to mountain hikes and city tours, there is something to suit every taste. In addition, the oasis towns, including the charming Birkat Al Mouz, invite you to experience traditional irrigated agriculture and the idyllic atmosphere.

Impression. My personal favorite places in Oman are the Mutrah Souk, where I felt transported to another world, the fascinating Wadi Tiwi, the breathtaking Wahiba Desert, the picturesque Mughsail
Beach, the enchanting Wadi Darbat, the traditional Nizwa Souk, the authentic Misfat Al Abriyeen and the idyllic Birkat Al Mouz.

The itinerary took us from Muscat along the coast to Sur and from there to the fascinating Wahiba Sands, where we spent an unforgettable night under the twinkling stars. We continued our journey along the Arabian Sea to Salalah via Al Ashkharah and Duqm. On the way back we drove through the endless stone desert into the Hajar Mountains, where we were able to admire the contrasting landscape of barren rocks and green oasis villages.

The best time to travel to Oman is outside the extremely hot summer months, which also occur in neighboring countries such as the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. It is recommended that
Visit Oman during the European winter. At the end of February/beginning of March the temperatures are already pleasant and often reach over 30 degrees Celsius. The sun shines almost constantly and clouds are rarely seen in the sky.
