Van Journal Week 16: We sell our van!
Van Journal Week 16: We sell our van!
Yes, we launched our van this week!
When we took to the street for the first time a few months ago, we received offers for people almost weekly who wanted to buy it from us. At that time we wanted to do the best of the hard work that we had put into the building and were not ready to leave it without having lived in it beforehand.
But now that our trip in Tassie came to an end, we decided to try our luck to see if someone wanted to buy our house on the island.
Why are you selling it? Is a question with which we were bombarded immediately after the list. The answer is that our Van-Life trip was only temporary. It was a reaction to global pandemic that restricted our usual lifestyle. Now that the rest of the world opens and Australia lagging behind with more restrictions and lockdowns, we have made the difficult decision to return to the backpack.
Apart from the fact that we have launched clifts on the market, our life has not changed very much this week. We further explored Tassie and met some new friends.
More epic waterfalls in the Tarkine
After our adventures in the northwest, we made our way south to explore further waterfalls and hiking trails in the Tarkine. Highlights at the beginning of the week were the huge Montezuma Falls and the Ultra-impressive Philosopher Falls.
Both waterfalls were incredible. We were lucky enough to catch some moody, foggy weather conditions on our trip to the Philosopher Falls that provided great recording conditions.
Here are some pictures of our last adventures in the Tarkine.

depend on tullah
After the waterfalls we drove to Tullah because we absolutely wanted to climb Mount Murchison. On the way we took some photos of this epic Tasmanic summit and decided that we have to come back to climb him! Typical for Tarkine, the weather was not playing well and the mountain was unfortunately wrapped in thick rain clouds for two days while we were waiting.
In the end, the predictions showed no signs of lightening, so we decided to drive back to the north. At about the same time we got a great interest in the van, so we decided to go back to Devonport to meet our inspections. We knew that the van market in Australia was going crazy. What we had not expected was so quickly interested in a small island at the end of the world!

Bridal Darling & Champagne Falls
On the way back through the Cradle Mountain region for the 4. times we also stopped and checked our bridal violet and champity if checked. To be honest, these were two of the most underestimated waterfalls that we had checked out so far!

chilling with the caravan of the mom
The last few days of the week we spent hanging around in Devonport and arranging inspections. When we cleared the van before the inspection at the free campsite in Railton, we met a great couple, Stefan and Naomi, who also run a YouTube channel and a blog called the Caravan of Courage.
Typical for the Van and Caravan Community in Australia, Stefan and Naomi helped us prepare for the inspections. We also spent most nights in their fantastically renovated caravan. It's crazy how much more space you can get in a pop-out!

In contrast to us, these boys plan to live in their caravan and to explore Australia for several years. So if you want to read about our short adventures and follow the adventures of a great couple in OZ, follow them on YouTube and Instagram!
Take a look at your caravan in the video below, absolutely epic!
update: I was introduced as one of the top photographers in Cairns!
