Van Journal Week 16: We are selling our van!
Yes, we launched our van this week! When we first hit the streets a few months ago, we were getting offers almost weekly for people wanting to buy it from us. At the time, we wanted to make the most of the hard work we had put into building it and were unwilling to leave without living in it first. But now that our trip was coming to an end in Tassie, we decided to try our luck to see if anyone on the island wanted to buy our house. Why are you selling it? Is …

Is a question we were bombarded with immediately after listing it. The answer is that our van life journey was always temporary. It was a response to the global pandemic that restricted our usual lifestyle. Now, with the rest of the world opening up and Australia lagging behind with more restrictions and lockdowns, we have made the difficult decision to return to backpacking.
But other than launching Clifden, our lives haven't changed much this week. We continued exploring Tassie and met some new friends.
More epic waterfalls in Tarkine
After our adventures in the northwest, we headed south to explore more waterfalls and hiking trails in the Tarkine. Highlights at the beginning of the week were the huge Montezuma Falls and the ultra-impressive Philosopher Falls.
Both waterfalls were incredible. We were lucky enough to catch some moody, foggy weather conditions on our trip to Philosopher Falls, which made for great shooting conditions.
Here are some shots from our recent adventures in the Tarkine.

Hanging out in Tullah
After the falls we drove to Tullah as we really wanted to climb Mount Murchison. We snapped some photos of this epic Tasmanian peak on the way there and decided we had to come back to climb it! Typically for Tarkine, the weather didn't cooperate and the mountain was unfortunately covered in thick rain clouds for two days while we waited.
In the end the forecast showed no signs of brightening so we decided to head back north. Around the same time we started getting a lot of interest in the van so we decided to drive back to Devonport to meet up for inspections. We knew the van market in Australia was going crazy. What we didn't expect was so much interest so quickly on a small island at the end of the world!

BRIDAL VEIL FALLS & CHAMPAGNE FALLS
On the way back through the Cradle Mountain region for the 4th time, we also stopped and checked out our Bridal Veil and Champaign Falls. These were honestly two of the most underrated waterfalls we had checked out so far!

Chilling with the Caravan of Courage
We spent the last few days of the week hanging around Devonport arranging inspections. As we were clearing out the van at the free campsite in Railton prior to inspection, we met a great couple, Stefan and Naomi, who also run a YouTube channel and blog called The Caravan of Courage.
Typical of the van and caravan community in Australia, Stefan and Naomi helped us prepare for the inspections. We also spent most nights in their fantastically renovated caravan. It's crazy how much more space you can get in a pop-out!

Unlike us, these guys plan to live in their trailer and explore Australia for several years. So if you'd like to read about our short adventures here and follow the adventures of a great couple in Oz, follow them on Youtube and Instagram!
Check out their caravan in the video below, absolutely epic!
Update: I've been featured as one of the top photographers in Cairns!
