United Airlines is revolutionizing flying: luxury in new Dreamliners!
United Airlines plans to revolutionize its flying experience with the introduction of the new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner fleet. The airline has announced that it will significantly increase the number of premium seats and services. The focus is primarily on two new business class suites: the exclusive “Polaris Studio” and the standard “Polaris”.
The Polaris Studio offers passengers a range of benefits that take the travel experience to a new level. Over 25 percent larger seats, caviar service, luxury skin care kits and impressive 27-inch screens are just a few of the features that set the suites apart. These structural improvements also include sliding doors and increased privacy for travelers. Additionally, the new 787-9 aircraft will feature the highest total number of premium seats in United's fleet history, 99 in total. This includes 8 United Polaris Studio Suites, 56 United Polaris Business Class Suites, 35 United Premium Plus Seats, 33 United Economy Plus Seats and 90 Economy Seats.
Responding to demand for premium travel
United Airlines' decision to invest in premium offerings comes at a time when North American airlines are seeing growing interest in premium travel. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, consumers are increasingly seeking new experiences, boosting both tourism and business travel. Despite global economic uncertainty, United Airlines expects to deliver stable financial results as demand for international travel and premium offerings remains high.
The first flight of the new 787-9 Dreamliner, equipped with the new interior – called “Elevated Interior” – is expected in late 2025. The first international passenger flights are already planned for 2026 from San Francisco to Singapore and London. At least 30 of these state-of-the-art aircraft are expected to enter the fleet by 2027.
Improvements in flight and catering offerings
Additionally, United Airlines has invested over $150 million in food and beverage improvements. United Polaris business class customers can look forward to a new grab-and-go snack system, while economy class will see expanded menu options and new desserts. Economy Class will also be equipped with the world's largest seat back umbrellas, measuring 13 inches and offering Bluetooth connectivity.
The United Polaris Studio Suites also offer passengers a range of amenities, including exclusive hoodie pajamas and slippers, noise-cancelling headphones, luxury skin care products and Saks Fifth Avenue bedding. Travelers who book a Polaris Studio Suite also receive priority boarding and access to the Global Reception Area. With all of these innovations, United Airlines expects customer satisfaction to continue to increase this year, having already seen a 12% increase in customer satisfaction in the first quarter of 2025.
United Airlines has also introduced new menu options and tableware across all cabins for 2025 that address current traveler trends and desires. The sweeping improvements suggest the airline is committed to improving not just comfort but also the overall travel experience.
