Ylenia Carrisi: Hope lives on – Romina feels her daughter!
Ylenia Carrisi, the eldest daughter of famous Italian singer Al Bano (81) and actress Romina Power (73), has been missing for over three decades. On New Year's Eve 1993, the 22-year-old's traces disappeared under mysterious circumstances in New Orleans, Louisiana. Despite the long time, her parents do not give up hope of seeing each other again. This reports Schlager.de.
Ylenia, born on November 29, 1970 in Rome, was a creative soul with ambitions to become a writer. She studied literature at King's College London and planned to travel the world with a backpack after her training. To finance her trip, she sold her possessions and traveled to South America. After various stops, she landed in New Orleans the day after Christmas 1993, where she was last seen in the French Quarter.
A mysterious disappearance
Al Bano and Romina Power last heard from their daughter on New Year's Eve 1993. On January 18, 1994, they reported Ylenia missing. At the time, Ylenia had been staying at the LeDale Hotel with a busker named Alexander Masakela, who was twenty years her senior. Masakela was later arrested on other charges but was released without evidence of a possible crime related to Ylenia's disappearance. One security guard even reported a woman who, after matching Ylenia's description, jumped into the Mississippi River and said, "I belong in the water."
Despite an ongoing Coast Guard search and various rumors about her whereabouts, such as a call in 1996 saying Ylenia was still alive, there are no concrete clues as to what happened to her. Romina Power recently said on the Italian TV show "Verissimo" that she feels a strong connection with her daughter on Ylenia's birthday in November, describing this connection as hopeful and not sad.
The official declaration of death
In 2014, Al Bano took the step of having Ylenia officially declared dead. Romina, however, firmly believes that her daughter is alive and will return one day. She is sure that the bond with her daughter is strong, even over the distance. For Ylenia's parents, the last few years have been marked by hopes and speculation about their daughter's fate.
Ylenia Carrisi remains not only the missing child of two well-known personalities, but also a symbol of unfulfilled hope and the unforgiving mystery of a mysterious disappearance. It remains to be seen whether the truth will one day come to light.
