High-energy adventures: VinFast conquers 6 countries in 28 days!

On April 5, 2025, a group of eight VinFast electric car owners embarked on a remarkable 28-day, 10,000 km journey through six Southeast Asian countries. This expedition began in Hanoi and took participants through Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia. The group traveled with the VinFast VF8 and VinFast VF6 models, with the VF8 in particular only achieving a range of 200 km with a full charge during the tour in extreme weather conditions.

During the trip, the participants experienced various challenges. In Cambodia, the cost of charging at some charging stations increased to around VND 500,000 per minute of charging. In addition, drivers in Thailand had to get used to driving on the left and needed 12 hours to clear customs. A temperature error occurred on the VF8, caused by dirty air conditioning connections, while the VF6 ran stable and provided a safe driving experience, even when fully loaded.

Special experiences and interactions

During their trip, the group was able to not only see the impressive Petronas Twin Towers and the city of Malacca in Malaysia, but also experience the traditional Songkran water festival in Thailand. In Singapore, it was the first time that VinFast electric cars were imported and driven by Vietnamese owners, strengthening the brand's international presence. When I met a man over 65 years old in Singapore, he showed great interest in electric vehicles.

The entire expedition was documented by participants and on social networks, resulting in over 600,000 views and promoting the image of Vietnamese electric vehicles. The group emphasized that cross-country journeys with electric cars were overall easier than initially assumed. Nevertheless, the actual range of the vehicles under hot and heavily loaded conditions was less than the range specified by the manufacturer.

Investments in the charging network infrastructure

VinFast and V-Green have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with four strategic partners: Chargecore, Chargepoint, Amarta Group and CVS. V-Green plans to invest directly in 20% of charging stations, while the rest will be developed through collaboration agreements. Chargecore will invest at least $30 million in 2025, while Chargepoint, Amarta Group and CVS will each contribute around $5.3 million per year. To further promote the adoption of electric vehicles, V-Green offers a power purchase price of 750 Indonesian Rupiah per kilowatt hour and guarantees a return of up to 25% in the first three years for its partners.

These developments underline VinFast's ambitions to establish itself as a leading provider in the electromobility market in Southeast Asia, both through innovative products and by expanding the necessary infrastructure.
