Participants included senior officials such as Nguyen Thi Thanh, vice president of the National Assembly, and Y Thanh Ha Nie Kdam, secretary of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee. In his opening speech, Y Thanh Ha Nie Kdam highlighted the majestic nature and vibrant culture of Lam Dong and described Da Lat as the tourist center of the central highlands. The province strives to develop into a sustainable growth pole, with a gross domestic product per capita of over VND 100 million. The combination of highly developed agriculture and tourist attractions such as the flower festival plays a key role here.
Development of Lam Dong
The forum also highlighted strategic approaches to reorganizing administrative units. A central theme was the merger with the provinces of Binh Thuan and Dak Nong to strengthen the cultural, tourism and economic pillars. Nguyen Thi Thanh emphasized the need to transform the province's potential into real values and have a clear strategic focus on the cultural industry and modern commercial structures.
Particular attention was also paid to the development of agritourism. Lam Dong is characterized by a high density of technologically advanced agriculture, accounting for 20.3% of the province's total arable land. The region is known for products such as tea, flowers and Arabica coffee, and steps have been taken to promote agritourism. These developments were driven by the support of the Lam Dong People's Committees and JICA, such as Vietnam Agriculture reported.
Challenges and future prospects
Although Lam Dong is a pioneer in applying high technology to agriculture, agritourism projects face challenges. These include the difficulties of cooperating with tour operators and the lack of qualified workers. The use of modern production methods and improving quality are crucial to increasing the attractiveness of agritourism products.
The forum highlighted the need for a comprehensive agritourism promotion strategy that takes into account the connection between regional characteristics and market requirements. This strategy also includes the development of an agritourism map and the use of modern communication technologies to promote tourist attractions.
