Fruit enjoyment in Phu Quoc: wonderful harvest for tourists and locals!

In the picturesque communities of Cua Can and Cua Duong on the popular holiday island of Phu Quoc in Kien Giang, durian, rambutan and apple orchards have opened their fruit for harvest. To the delight of many travelers, these trees have provided rich yields in recent weeks. The gardens are now open to domestic and foreign visitors, who can not only marvel at the lush fruits but also actively participate in the harvesting process. Visitors have the opportunity to pick and enjoy the fruits directly in the garden, providing an authentic experience that is particularly worthwhile during the peak season of May to June. Vietnam.vn reports that entry to the apple orchard is free, but picking the apples costs about 60,000 VND per kilogram.

The organically grown apples are not only sweet but also delicious, making them a popular product among tourists. Mr Nguyen Van Hung, who runs a durian garden in Cua Duong, produces about six tonnes of durian per season. These special fruits are sold for 100,000 to 120,000 VND per kilogram, although the high prices do not always attract enough buyers. Rambutan is also popular in the gardens and sells for around VND50,000 per kilogram. Mr. Tran Minh Khoa, Chairman of the Phu Quoc People's Committee, highlights that tourism continues despite the beginning of the rainy season.

Sustainability in tourism

Local authorities' efforts to promote Phu Quoc as a sustainable tourism destination are part of a larger trend in global tourism. This is exactly where luxury ecotourism comes in, focusing on experiencing nature without negative environmental impacts. This approach, which equally takes ecological, cultural and social aspects into account, creates a balance between luxury and sustainability. Top travel information describes that luxury ecotourism focuses on environmental protection and the careful use of resources.

Environmentally friendly accommodation that uses renewable energy and recycled materials and avoids plastic waste is part of this concept. Travelers are encouraged to choose public transportation or environmentally friendly vehicles such as electric cars or bicycles to experience nature respectfully. This sustainable form of travel not only promotes the preservation of biological diversity, but also strengthens the local economy by allowing travelers to experience the culture of the respective destination.

The Kien Giang Ministry of Tourism is working on specific policies to further support rural and community and ecotourism. At the same time, authorities are pursuing plans to promote Phu Quoc as an attractive travel destination and develop new travel products. As temperatures rise and the rainy season approaches, Da Ban Stream remains a popular place to relax and escape the stress of everyday life.
