Red Cross opens 31 charity houses: A ray of hope for the poor!
At the end of May 2025, the Red Cross of Tuyen Quang Province took a significant step in humanitarian assistance. 31 charity houses were opened in Na Hang, Lam Binh, Chiem Hoa, Ham Yen and Yen Son districts. This initiative has a total value of over VND 6.1 billion and was made possible through various programs and sponsors. Over VND1.8 billion comes from the “From Highlands to Sky” charity program, supported by companies such as Tuyen Quang Petroleum Company, Tuyen Quang Electricity Company and Vietnam Women Journalists Club. Further resources were provided through the families' own contributions and the support of the community.
An outstanding example is the case of Mr. Ha Van Chien from Dong Tien Village, who finally received a new house after living in dilapidated conditions for a long time. Ms. Ma Thi Nhat from Ban Thang Village also received VND60 million to build a new house of over 60 m². These developments are part of broader support that the Red Cross has been providing to households in need since March 2025.
Overall activities and achievements
The humanitarian efforts of the Provincial Red Cross are remarkable. Comrade Quan Anh Hien reported that since the beginning of the year, five new charity houses have been supported with a total cost of over VND1 billion. Humanitarian Month 2025 mobilized resources worth over VND 5.1 billion, exceeding the set target by 200%. Over VND 4 billion was used to help more than 3,000 people in difficult situations.
As the activities progressed, 31 charity houses were inaugurated and handed over. In addition, a blood donation day was organized, during which 1,700 units of blood were collected, which corresponds to 180% of the set target. In addition, the kindergarten in Chuong Village in Hung Loi Township will receive construction support and free medical examinations and medicine distribution will be provided.
Education and hygiene
Despite these significant advances, many people in the region continue to face challenges, particularly in the neighboring provinces of Cao Bang and Lang. Here, residents have limited access to clean drinking water and sanitation facilities. There is a lack of knowledge about hygiene and health care, and few schools have running water and latrines. In order to counteract these grievances, the German Red Cross (DRK) is committed to the front line.
The DRK carries out comprehensive hygiene training and trains local craftsmen in the construction of sanitary facilities. Together with the Vietnamese Red Cross, the emergency workers are doing everything they can to sustainably improve the quality of life of the people in these regions. These initiatives not only support immediate needs, but also contribute to long-term improvements in living conditions.
