About Sail Croatia

Sail Croatia was founded in 2005 by two passionate travelers and is one of the longest existing cruise companies in the country!

They carry cruises with small ships between popular destinations such as Dubrovnik and the city of Split as well as beautiful islands such as Hvar, Mljet, Vis and many more.

sail croatia is traditionally aimed at the young party people, but now offers a large selection of small cruise options that are attractive for every population group, including luxury boats for couples and families as well as adventure cruises with small ships.

My sail croatia experience

As with most passionate travelers who love adventures, the exploration of the lively Dalmatian coast of Croatia has been on my wish list for several years.

Due to the large number of islands and the distance that needs to be covered, the traditional backpacker island bouncing simply did not seem practical. So I decided to go on board the 7-day discoverer of the discoverer from Sail Croatia.

I was not very interested in celebrating, so I booked the explorer option to spend more time with exploring all the medieval cities, lively islands and epic beaches! If this seems to be your type of cruise experience in Croatia, then I can only warmly recommend this option.

This included all popular travel destinations as well as some less visited islands and lonely bays on the way from Dubrovnik to Split.

In this article I link to separate blog posts that I wrote and which deal with some of the goals and unique experiences on this epic journey.

Why Sail Croatia is the best Croatia cruise

So now for why you are here! Let us go into 8 reasons why I think Sail Croatia offers the best Croatia cruises on the Adriatic coast!

1. The ships - cruises with small ships

I don't know how you are, but huge cruise ships are not my thing. To be obtained into a moving city with thousands of other tourists is not really my idea of adventure.

Small cruise ships offer exactly the opposite. Travelers can get to know everyone on the ship and they are treated like a guest, not like a number!

Sail Croatia also has some of the best small cruise ships in the region (with some new ships). My experience was on the Cleopatra, a spacious, modern and beautifully processed ship with a huge sun deck and a whirlpool, a huge dining kitchen, large rooms with lower and upper deck cabins and comfortable seating areas for the days at sea.

2. The Croatia cruise options

I briefly addressed that before. But another reason why Sail Croatia offers the best way to experience the Adriatic coast is that there are so many cruise options to choose from

The boat options and cruise routes include:

  • navigator-party boat (18-39)
  • Explorer - adventure -oriented
  • Elegance - luxury cruise with more luxury boats
  • cycling - Explore all starting ports on guided bike tours
  • hike - explore the popular islands on foot and climb the spectacular mountain chains

As you can see, this variety is hard to beat. The Explorer Cruise was perfect for our travel style. We gave us a lot of time to explore all the beautiful islands and coastal cities, but still gave us the flexibility to drink something in the bars and clubs in the old town.

3. The travel destinations

Sail Croatia has been there for a long time. Your sail routes are well selected to cover the best that the Dalmatian coast has to offer.

Islands and contact ports on our cruise included:

  • Dubrovnik-an idyllic coastal city that is known for her role as Kings Landing in the Game of Thrones franchise
  • Insel Mljet (MLJET National Park) - The greenest island with amazing salt water lakes
  • Korčula - a beautiful old town with vineyards and olive groves
  • island Hvar-one of the most popular islands with UNESCO World Heritage Site
  • Island Vis - a remote island with a rich history, crystal clear water, beautiful beaches and great wine tasting
  • Split - beautiful port city, famous for medieval city walls and the Diocletian Palace from the Roman era

This was an excellent cruise route and offered a lot of time to explore every goal. In addition, every cruise on the way offers daily bathing stops in beautiful bays, lonely beaches and remote, uninhabited Dalmatian islands.

4. The flexibility

Are you concerned that there is no cruise option for you on your selected data? Don't worry, Sail Croatia offers weekly Adriatic cruises for every route and option that take place during the summer months.

5. The staff

Another great thing about this cruise company is that you hire locals for all your employees. As a result, Sail Croatia enjoys a high reputation in the country because it employs hundreds of locals.

The staff on board our Croatia cruise was very friendly and professional and added a local note to our Dalmatian sailing experience. The food was also excellent, every meal was delicious local cuisine from the Balkans.

Our tour guide Vania spoke excellently fluent English and had the experience at a great time. When booking your cruise, check which boat she works for a great time.
6. Optional activities

When you have followed my blog for a while, you know that I am no one who sits around and lazy. So I was thrilled when I found out that there were many optional adventure activities on offer.

Some of the experiences that I selected on the Croatia cruise are:

  • National Park Krka (from Split)
  • omiš zip feed (from split)
  • Wine tasting (Stiri degrees on the island of Hvar)
  • Game of Thrones tour (Dubrovnik)
  • buggy safari (island of Korčula)
  • military tour (island Vis)

not to mention that our tour guide Vania took us on a local hike in every coastal city and to all the local sights, historical monuments and places that should be seen.

7. The value

When it comes to booking a vacation or vacation trip in Europe, the price is of course one of the most important factors.

Fortunately, Sail Croatia is one of the cheapest cruises in Croatia. I recommend looking for seasonal discounts on your website to get a great offer. The Explorer Cruise convinced me the most with regard to the price-performance ratio.

8. Sail Croatia is committed to sustainable tourism

The investment of her hard -earned money in a vacation should not be juggling between value and social and ecological sustainability.

Sail Croatia is known in Europe as a pioneer for sustainable tourism. You run a program called Green Sail, a practical network of partners and members that promote sustainable tourism and education in coastal regions.

I love to see companies that give the oceans back something that they rely on so much.
