300,000 euros for Bauhaus anniversary: ​​Dessau-Roßlau starts!

Dessau-Roßlau, Deutschland - On May 15, 2025, Sven Schulze, Minister for Economics, Tourism, Agriculture and Forestry of Saxony-Anhalt, handed over two important funding notices to the city marketing company Dessau-Roßlau mbH. The total of around 300,000 euros should help to promote tourist marketing on the occasion of the anniversary "100 years of Bauhaus in Dessau" and to expand the digital information offers. These funds support both anniversary markets and new digital guest terminals, with both projects being in line with the goals of the Tourisma 2027 master plan.

The first funding project for applying the Bauhaus anniversary, which is celebrated in 2025 and 2026, receives 161,775 euros. Various cross-media campaigns that include print, online and outdoor advertising are planned, alongside press trips, social media measures and close cooperation with the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation and local partners. The aim is to build on the success of the 2019 anniversary year and to achieve new target groups.

digital guest terminals as an information hub

Another supported project includes the installation of four digital guest terminals, which are funded with 138,000 euros. These terminals, which are placed in heavily frequented places, offer extensive information about sights, events, gastronomy and accommodations in the region. They are barrier -free and bilingual and are to be integrated into the city's tourist information system.

The two projects are characterized by improving the visibility of tourist offers and strengthening the quality of stay. Dessau-Roßlau is increasingly described as a cultural lighthouse and model for a future-oriented tourism development, especially with regard to the upcoming Bauhaus anniversary.

celebrations and events

From September 2025, the Bauhaus anniversary will be celebrated with a number of events that include exhibitions, artistic program, conferences and festivals. Particular attention is paid to materials of modernity and present. In addition, a reading series with the title "1925-The Bauhaus comes after Dessau" on January 28, 2025. This series, organized by the Kulturamt und Stadtarchiv Dessau-Roßlau in cooperation with the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation, looks at 1925 when the Bauhaus moves to Dessau. Historical daily newspapers and other sources are discussed to illuminate the aesthetic and political currents of the time.

The Les series starts in the Bauhaus Museum Dessau and then changes between different historical locations. An accompanying exhibition with historical photographs is planned in the Museum of City History. The publication for the reading series will be presented as part of the Triennale of Modernity in Dessau, which takes place from September 26th to 28th, 2025. This extensive program shows the city's commitment to keep the importance of the Bauhaus alive and to celebrate its influence on modern art and design movement.
