Things to do in Jodhpur in a day
Depending on when you arrive, you may have difficulty fitting all of these activities and sights in Jodhpur into one day. However, this itinerary assumes that you have a full day to explore this incredible city, unless you feel free to select some of the Jodhpur attractions listed below to create your own itinerary!
If you'd rather not leave it to fate, I recommend booking a complete 1-day tour of Jodhpur. The tour I've linked below covers everything mentioned in this article and will save you time haggling for rickshaws as you rush to the next attraction. It's also super affordable and rated 5 stars on Viator, arguably the best booking site in India.

Explore Mehrangarh Fort
You simply can't visit Jodhpur without seeing the incredible Mehrangarh Fort. It is one of the most massive forts in India and towers 125 meters above the ancient city. Once inside, you can explore the historic mansions, rooms, treasures and museums inside.
Visiting the fort will take up a significant portion of your already packed Jodhpur day itinerary. Therefore, I suggest going to the fort as your first port of call. Entry to the fortress begins at 9:00 a.m., giving you some time to have breakfast at your accommodation beforehand.
The entry fee to Mehrangarh Fort is 400 rupees for foreigners and 40 for Indians. I generally keep these up to date, but you can check again on the Jodhpur tourism website.

Photograph the blue streets of Jodhpur
Like many cities in Rajasthan, Jodhpur has a specific color that describes the predominant architectural color scheme. Jodhpur is known as the Blue City and you will find many dazzling blue streets throughout the old town below the fort.
However, when I first set out to photograph the alluring blue streets as part of my growing list of things to do in Jodhpur in a day, I discovered that finding them wasn't as easy as first expected. So if you're in a rush and longing to cram the sea of blue streets into your itinerary, I highly recommend you read my self-guided article on where to find the streets of the Blue City of Jodhpur.
Alternatively, book a quick 2-hour walking tour of the Blue City after checking out the fort just in time for a late afternoon lunch at your next stop, the Clocktower Market.

Browse market goods at Clocktower Market
After all that walking, you're definitely going to get hungry! The next stop on this one day in Jodhpur is the city's central hub: the Clocktower Market. This central clock tower is known as Ghanta Ghar, a historical monument surrounded by a bustling bazaar known as Sardar Market.
Exploring the goods for sale is a great way to spend the afternoon. But what's even better are the surrounding restaurants. Choose from fresh samosas, table-width thalis or delicious plates of dal baati churma.

Stop at Jodhpur Stepwell
Just a short walk from Sardar Market is Jodhpur's famous stepwell. If you still have daylight, then this will be the last attraction on this one day Jodhpur itinerary.
Known as Toorki Ka Jhalra or Tooji's Stepwell, it was built in 1740 to serve as a central hub for the citizens of Jodhpur to collect water, socialize and sell their wares and products.
Today it is a popular historical site that is great for photography. The stepwell also attracts brave local children and teenagers who play a daily cat-and-mouse game with security forces as they jump from buildings into deep water before running away from an impending beating.

End the day at a rooftop restaurant
What a day! I warned you, this itinerary would be quick. But in my defense, I didn't want you to just tip your toes, I'd rather you sink your teeth into this incredible city - and I bet you're glad you did! But now it's time to relax and reflect on the amazing experience you had exploring all the best things to do in Jodhpur in one day!
And what better way to do that than by enjoying a hearty meal at one of Jodhpur's many rooftop restaurants and cafes? There are many to choose from, each claiming to have the best view of the fort. However, there were a few that caught my eye. These include Nirvana House, Shivam Restaurant and Bob’s Hostel.
However, you may not want to walk around Jodhpur trying to find another restaurant. For this reason, I recommend you stay in a hotel or hostel that has a good rooftop restaurant. This way you can relax, entertain and enjoy before you go to sleep. If you continue reading below, I have a section dedicated to the best places to stay.

Where to stay in the Blue City of India: Jodhpur
