Bukit Merese Hills Viewpoint at Sunset – Kuta Lombok

Bukit Merese or Merese Hills is an epic Kuta Lombok sunset viewpoint that overlooks the shores of Tanjung Aan Beach and the rocky coastline towards Kuta.

When it comes to sunset viewing spots in Kuta Lombok, Bukit Merese is by far the most popular spot. However, don't let this stop you from visiting. The cliffs are very wide with plenty of space for everyone to have a peaceful view of the setting Lombok sun.

How to get to Merese Hills Sunset Viewpoint

To get to Bukit Merese Hills, you'll need to take the 15-minute scooter ride from Kuta Lombok along the coast to the popular Tanjung Aan Beach. Once you get to Tanjung Aan, just walk a little further where you'll come across a group of guys collecting parking money. After paying, follow the sandy path to the foot of the Bukit Merese Hills where you can park your motorbike.

Best sunset view at Bukit Merese Hills Viewpoint

From the parking lot, follow the trail up the hill until you reach the summit. From here you have the option of following the hill to the higher viewpoints on the left or the lower hills on the right.

Both sides of this sunset viewpoint offer some spectacular views, but the left, higher side hills also give you views of Tanjung Aan.

From Bukit Merese Hills the sun sets almost directly next to the scattered cliffs in the distance to the east. Here you can watch the sun slowly slide into the ocean horizon before putting on its nightly fire show.

Monkey viewing point?

On the left hills you can often find several groups of monkeys chilling on the cliffs and trying to fix their nightly sunset. These guys are pretty used to people, so much so that they seem to be posing for photos on the cliff.
