Bahubali Hills Udaipur - epic viewpoint on the lake
Bahubali Hills Udaipur - epic viewpoint on the lake
Bahubali Hills Udaipur is a rocky viewpoint with a view of Lake Badi and the Aravali hills. The hotel is only a short journey from the city of Udaipur in Rajasthan, India.
It is true that the "Lake City" Udaipur is better known for magnificent palaces, royal buildings and extravagant weddings. However, if you visit Udaipur and long for an epic viewpoint or a break from the hustle and bustle, I would highly recommend that you make your trip to Bahubali Hills or Badi Hills.
I saw this viewpoint for the first time on Instagram and after I had heard myself in the hostel, I quickly realized that even the locals from Udaipur hadn't heard of this viewpoint. So I rented a motorcycle and drove out in search of Badi Lakes. Here is a short guide based on my experience with visiting the Bahubali Hills from Udaipur.

Location of the Bahubali Hills from Udaipur
The Bahubali Hills viewpoint is located on Badi Lake, about 13 km from Udaipur. The Badi lake is hidden behind the Aravalli hills, a mountain chain with a view of Udaipur, which is famous for the "Monsunpalast".
The Bahubali Hills viewpoint is located on the northern tip of the Badi lake and can be reached across the street to an unpaved parking lot, where a short hiking trail begins.
This is how you get to the Bahubali Hills viewpoint
As far as I was able to judge, there are no tours or public transport to Badi Lake or Bahubali Mountain. This means that if you want to leave the city to take a look at the view, either rent a motorcycle or pay a taxi or a rickshaw driver.
I chose a motorcycle that arranged my hostel for 350 rupees for the day.
Since I stayed in the tourist/backpacker area of Brampole, I took the main street to the west (76a) towards the Aravali Hills, whereby the road went into the "Devi Palace Road" and then to the "Badi-Gorela-Mulla Talai Road". This road is paved on the entire path and circles the steep, dry, dry hills and edges of the Badi lake to the north tip, where you can find a non-paved road that winds up a small hill.

When you navigate to the above pen, you will finally reach an unpaved parking lot with a small stand. The very short path to the Bahubali Hills viewpoint is right behind the hill from the parking lot.

Viewpoint Badi See
After I had spent exploring temples, palaces and exciting cities in Rajasthan for the last few months, visiting the viewpoint Bahubali Hills, which corresponds more to my usual travel style, was an inviting and almost relieving feeling.
The view over the mirror water of the Badi lake, framed by the rugged desert landscape of Rajasthans, creates an epic scene.

About the Badi Lake
The Badi lake is an artificial freshwater lake, which was created between 1652 and 1680 by Majarana Raj Singh I near the small village of Badi on the outskirts of Udaipur.
The lake was originally built to compensate for a famine before building and was an important water source during a drought in 1973.
In addition to the Bahubali Hills viewpoint, there is also a "sunset point" on the eastern bank of the lake, which can be reached across the street, which you take to the viewpoint.
We stopped here briefly to take another look at the lake before we drove back to Udaipur.

Overnight in Udaipur
You will want to spend the night in or near the "Brampole" area of Udaipur to have the best access to palaces, bridges, viewpoints on the lake and pretty much everything else that is going on in Udaipur. Below I listed the most recommended and best rated options.
Best hostel atmosphere: Hostel Mantradieses Hostel is in perfect location and includes a roof area with a view of the lakes from Udaipur. This is a really social hostel that is perfect for solo travelers. Sleeping halls also cost about $ 3, so you really can't do anything wrong.
Best private room for couples: Gypsy Child Lake Hostelein Hostel, which also offers private rooms with a terrace at a low price. This is one of the best rated accommodations for dormitories and private accommodation in Udaipur. It has a great location, includes a free breakfast and has clean, air -conditioned rooms.
Stay in a palace: Raas Devigarh on the other side of the price range is the 18th century palace with a view of Udaipur; The Raas Devigarh. If you have to spend $ 200 per night and like a king, this is probably the most unique place to spend a few nights in Udaipur.
