Naturfreunde Kornwestheim: Unforgettable adventure trip to South Tyrol!
The Naturfreunde Kornwestheim went on a five-day cultural trip to South Tyrol, which was successful thanks to the pleasant weather. The trip began on Wednesday last week with a visit to the Ettal monastery in Bavaria. There the travelers learned more about the 400-year tradition of the monastery brewery, which has been run by monks since 1609. After lunch in the Braustübl, the journey continued via Seefeld and Innsbruck to the state capital of South Tyrol, Bozen.
In Bolzano, the group stayed in a hotel on the outskirts of the city. The next day they explored the historic center of the city with a tour guide. This informed the participants about the eventful history and the striking sights of Bolzano. A tourist train helped to explore the center, and a meeting at Waltherplatz was another highlight of the morning. The nature lovers spent the afternoon with a traditional Törggelen on a mountain farm in the Isarco Valley, where they were able to enjoy regional food and musical performances.
Diverse explorations in South Tyrol
Another item on the trip was a visit to Castelrotto, which is located at the foot of the Seiser Alm. Here the travelers were able to enjoy the breathtaking landscape before continuing their exploration tour in Meran in the Adige Valley. Particular highlights were the gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle, which are internationally known for their beauty. The gardens are considered to be some of the most beautiful in the world and provided a perfect setting for relaxing moments.
The next day was the South Tyrolean Wine Route, which began in Kaltern. Participants used the Mendelbahn, a funicular railway, to reach the Mendel Pass. A refreshing walk on the Mendel Pass was followed by a visit to Lake Kaltern. Finally, in Sankt Magdalenen, a region with strong wine cultivation, a wine tasting took place in a winery, which gave visitors a deep insight into the local wine culture.
The last day and return journey
On the last day of the trip, the South Tyrolean Speck Museum in Naturns was on the agenda. The participants not only learned about the importance of bacon for the region, but also gained valuable insights into how it is produced. After an eventful stay in South Tyrol, the return journey began via Landeck, Imst and Füssen before the group arrived back in Kornwestheim in the evening.
