Biathlon star Marlene Fichtner enjoys a dream vacation in Mallorca!
The German biathlete Marlene Fichtner, one of the biggest young hopes in biathlon, is currently spending her vacation on the popular holiday island of Mallorca. She shares happy snapshots of her trip on her Instagram account, describing her state of mind with the words "90% happy, 10% tanned." The pictures show her on the beach and in a hammock, where she can fully enjoy the sun and relaxation.
Fichtner not only uses her stay to relax, but also explores the local cuisine and the old town of Mallorca. She is also active and goes on bike rides in the island's hilly landscape, which helps her keep fit and enjoy the surroundings.
Sporting successes and future prospects
Fichtner, who was crowned German pursuit champion in 2024, has already achieved numerous successes in her young career. She made her World Cup debut in Hochfilzen, where she was also able to prove herself in international competitions. With her nomination for the German World Cup squad for the 2025/26 season, she has exciting weeks ahead of her.
Marlene Fichtner trains at the Ruhpolding base in the Chiemgau Arena under the direction of Andreas Birnbacher and competes for the Traunstein Ski Club. Her career is remarkable: After graduating from Chiemgau-Gymnasium in 2021, she was sponsored by the Bavarian State Police and later found her place in the customs ski team.
Previous successes and championships
Fichtner was already able to draw attention to herself through her achievements at the youth level. In the 2016/17 German Student Cup she took third place overall in her age group. In the following seasons she switched to the small-caliber rifle and achieved notable placings in the German Cup. Particular highlights were her participation in the 2020 Youth Olympic Winter Games and her nomination for the Junior World Championships.
She won her first international medal with the German relay team in 2022 and continued her rise in biathlon. Her success at the Junior World Championships in Kazakhstan, where she won the relay title, and her bronze medal at the Biathlon Junior European Championships in Madona show her great potential.
Fichtner most recently ended the 2023/24 winter season with a ninth place in the mass start at the IBU Cup final in Obertilliach and was accepted into the DSV B national team. Their people and fields are excited about the coming challenges in international biathlon.
Fichtner's previous achievements and her fresh approach have made her an important figure in German biathlon.
