About Crystal Bay Nusa Penida

This incredibly protected bay is world famous in the diving scene as the place to see Mola Mola (the huge moon fish). If you are lucky enough to visit Crystal Bay Nusa Penida in the Mola-Mola season (August to October), I strongly recommend you to book a dive!

Even if you are not a diver, this beach is definitely worth a visit. It is close to the most important port city of Toya Packh, which makes it an excellent option for a day trip or a sunset when you stay on the island.

How do you come to Crystal Bay Nusa Penida?

The far best way to get to Crystal Bay and explore Nusa Penida is to rent your own motorcycle. You can get pons in your accommodation or in the many rental shops at the port.

A daily rent costs between 50,000 and 70,000 rupiah for a decent scooter.

Alternatively, if you want to save yourself the annoying exchange business, you can book Rupiah in advance on this website.

The ride to Crystal Bay only takes about 20 minutes from the port and is one of the next snorkeling beaches on the island.

Below I attached the exact location so that you can find your way better. The street here is generally quite decent. On the way they pass beautiful streets lined with palm trees and picturesque villages and warning on the side of the road. The last place is the beach where they are asked to pay 10,000 rupiah to turn off your bike (standard on Nusa Penida).

Crystal Bay Nusa Penida: What awaits you

As soon as you arrive in Crystal Bay, you will undoubtedly discover a few tourists who have spread on the sandy beaches. You can either join them or borrow snorkeling equipment from one of the boys who work in the small beach bars in Bali-style.

In the middle of the Bay of Crystal Bay there is a small, rocky island. We swam to this island to look at it.

If you also take the slightly leaked paths on the left side of the bay (with a view to the sea), you can climb a viewpoint from which you have a good view of the beach and the island.

Unfortunately, my camera card was damaged from this trip, so I lost my great photos of Crystal Bay! Fortunately, I still have some cell phone and underwater shots from this point! Alt = “Crystal Bay Nusa Penida”>

snorkeling in the Crystal Bay Nusa Penida

snorkeling is definitely what it is in Crystal Bay! I was quite overwhelmed by how untouched the coral reef was here. The further you swim out, the greater your chances of seeing a crossing mantaroche and a green sea turtle.

overnight accommodation on Nusa Penida

nusa Penida is not a huge island, but there are several options to choose from if you choose accommodation. Below I listed my 3 tips for budget, mid-range and luxury accommodation.

Luxury: Adiwana Warnakali Resortdies is not the most expensive luxury resort on Nusa Penida, but definitely one of the best! This resort is located directly on the water with large, luxurious suites and an incredibly included breakfast.

Middle class: Jukung CottageDieses Epic cottage in resort style on the beach offers a great price-performance ratio. It has a restaurant, an outdoor pool, a bar and a community lounge.
