Even though fans of the series are eagerly awaiting new episodes, the anticipation for filming is overwhelming. How moin.de reported that a street near the studio of the radio station R.SH was turned into a film set. Peter Heinrich Brix, who plays Inspector Carl Sievers, was right there and thrilled the fans.
Camera crews and technical equipment were carefully set up while there were barriers around the sets. Numerous viewers expressed their joy about the filming on social media. A moderator from R.SH, Carsten, shared the event in a Facebook post and encouraged fans to share their experiences as extras in previous episodes. While the overwhelmingly positive reactions underlined the fun and enthusiasm for the series, there were also critical voices regarding the costs associated with these public productions.
A successful format with many viewers
“Nord Nord Mord” has become a real ratings hit since it was first broadcast in April 2011. With up to 10 million viewers and a growing fan base, the series is one of the most successful crime dramas on German television. The episode “Sievers and the Murderous Turquoise” was the big record holder in January 2022 with 10.32 million viewers. 25 episodes have been broadcast so far; the next, “Sievers and the Deep Sleep,” will air on May 3, 2025 at 8:15 p.m.
The current series premiere is all about Inspector Sievers, who is involuntarily involved in a murder. The previously broadcast episode “Sievers and the Lost Dog” also had great success with 8.66 million viewers. Sylt has been established as a filming location for the series since the 1920s and is home to filming locations such as Morsum, Keitum and Kampen. Westerland in particular is regularly used for film scenes - recordings were recently made in the “Beach House” and at the Musikmuschel.
Filming and future prospects
The production company will also be active in the coming months: filming of two new cases will begin at the end of April 2025. The title of the new episodes, such as “Sievers and the Silent Oysters”, “Sievers and the Song of the Whales” and “Sievers and the Last Tango”, promises exciting entertainment.
