A hero on the water: Rösler paddles 2,467 km for environmental protection!

Pascal Rösler has had an impressive journey: on a stand-up paddle board (SUP), he paddled 2,467 kilometers from Munich across the Isar and the Danube to the Black Sea. The entire tour lasted 63 days, during which Rösler spent 360 hours on the water and completed almost 600,000 paddling strokes. His goal was to draw attention to the increasing pollution of water bodies worldwide. The documentary about his journey, “2467km – A journey to the Black Sea”, contains moving encounters and personal feelings that Rösler shared during his journey, and addresses the burden on nature caused by industrialization and plastic waste, such as Cineplex reported.

Rösler was accompanied by a two-person film team, consisting of Matthias Obermeier and Anton Zabriskie, who documented his journey over 20 days. The impressive images of the Isar, Danube and the surrounding nature provide an impressive visual framework for the important issues of environmental pollution and climate change.

In his film, Walther deals with the climatic changes in Greenland, while Rösler addresses the pollution of the waters through human consumer behavior. In discussions after the screenings, the two filmmakers had the opportunity to exchange ideas with the audience about their experiences and how to properly interact with nature.

The films shown not only offer impressive images of nature, but also interviews with people who live along the paddling routes. These impressions help to further illustrate the urgency of the topics covered in both documentaries.
