On Sunday, May 18, 2025, the Museum Obere Saline in Bad Kissingen opens its doors for a special event as part of the International Museum Day. Under the motto "Luxury, Exotic & Modernity in the Kurhäuser Bad Kissingen", a special exhibition is presented that gives the visitor: inside a lively insight into the sophisticated spa life of past times. According to Mainrhoen24 , the exhibition for the first time shows exhibits from the depots of the urban collections that honor the cultural heritage of the region.
A special highlight of the exhibition is a large -format painting by Ferdinand Max Bredt, which impressively captures the exotic atmosphere around 1900. In addition, visitors can explore luxurious interiors of historical spa, conversation and dining rooms, which are designed with Art Nouveau motifs and lead-glazed winter gardens, as they were found in the Grandhotels and Kurhäuser of the city.

The International Museum Day is called up annually by the International Museum Council ICOM and always takes place in Germany on a Sunday. This year he is celebrated for the 48th time, and the coordination is the responsibility of the German Museum Association (DMB). The aim of this initiative is to highlight the cultural and social importance of museums and encourage visitors to discover these facilities. On International Museum Day, special tours are also waiting for the guests. An overview with the title "Bishop - Bismarck - Colorful things" begins at 11 a.m., the topics such as salt extraction in Bad Kissingen, treats the original apartment of Otto von Bismarck and artistic toys from the Rhön and the world. At 3 p.m., curator Heinrich Hacker leads the visitors through the mentioned special exhibition. A costume tour at 4 p.m. gives the guests the opportunity to get a private insight into the life of the Bismarck family with Bismarck's maid Marie.
The museum is open on this day from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and expects numerous interested parties who want to take the opportunity to learn more about the history and culture of the region.
