Experience nature: hiking tour through the Biesenthal Basin!
On June 8, 2025, the Nature Friends are organizing a guided hike through the Biesenthaler Becken nature reserve, which is considered an attractive destination for nature lovers. The meeting point is at 10:32 a.m. in Lobetal, from where the participants will begin the hike. The route leads from the Upstaller Fließ to Hellsee, further along the Hellmühler Fließ to Biesenthal and finally through the nature reserve to Rüdnitz train station. The total length of the route is around 15 kilometers and the hike is designed for participants with appropriate fitness, as an average running speed of around 4.5 km/h is recommended.
The nature of the hike includes 3 kilometers of road surface as well as mostly natural hiking trails, some of which are heavily rooted and hilly. Therefore, sure-footedness is required. Participants should wear comfortable, sturdy shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. It is also advisable to take enough water, provisions and, if necessary, sun and mosquito protection with you. A seat pad can also be useful. Since the hike takes place in all weathers, except for severe weather warnings, all participants are invited to register. The maximum number of participants allowed is 15.
The natural beauties of the Biesenthal Basin
The Biesenthal Basin, located northeast of Berlin, is not only a nature reserve, but also part of the Barnim Nature Park, which covers an area of around 750 km². It is a single train station away from Bernau near Berlin and is easily accessible via the RB24 train line to Rüdnitz. This region is characterized by a varied landscape with forests, meadows and pastures that are ideal for hiking.
Hikers can explore the basin on well-marked paths, which is crossed by several streams and has connections to lakes in the forest area. Around the hike around Rüdnitz, a grassland-shaped cultural landscape is formed, which is interrupted by areas of mixed forest, forest meadows and, in some cases, agricultural areas. Although there are many hikes in the region, participants often met only a few other hikers, even when the weather was good. A true natural delight for nature lovers seeking peace and quiet!
For hiking enthusiasts, peace and relaxation are guaranteed even in summer by using alternative forest paths. There are numerous rest areas at Lake Meche near Lobetal, but there are only a few benches and shelters in the forest, which makes it particularly important to take provisions with you. The trails themselves are varied, including asphalt, pavement, and root-riddled forest trails, making hiking both enjoyable and challenging.
For anyone interested in the hike through the Biesenthaler Becken nature reserve, there is also a GPX track to download, so that those interested can find out about the precise route in advance. This day promises an unforgettable nature experience! Further information is available via the Nature lovers as well as on Ecologically on the go to find.
