Garud Chatti Waterfall Rishics - Complete Guide
Garud Chatti Waterfall Rishics - Complete Guide
Garud Chatti Waterfall Rishikesh is a multi-stage waterfall in the Rajaji forest above the banks of the Ganges.
Looking for a multi -stage waterfall in Rishikesh, which is somewhat off the beaten path? Don't worry, I provided you with this short guide to visit the Garud Chatti waterfall in Rishikesh.
A short but scenic hike awaits you, which leads to several waterfall levels, each of which is an excellent place for swimming and cooling. In this guide, I will describe in detail how to get from Rishikesh to the Garud Chatti waterfall and how to find the two waterfall levels on the way.
How do you get to the Garud Chatti Rishikesh waterfall?
The Garud Chatti waterfall is located near the Neelkanth bridge in the forest on the south bank of the aisle. You will find the starting point of the hiking trail to the Garud Chatti Falls directly opposite the Garud Chatti Temple from which the waterfall has its name.
To get from Rishikesh to the Garud Chatti waterfall, it is about 3.5 km or 45 minutes on foot from the Laxman Jhula Bridge in Tapovan. It is also possible to rent a motorcycle in many shops in many shops or to pay a RiScha driver who takes you to the Garud-Chatti temple.
The starting point is a bit striking at first, but there are usually some stands nearby and a small sign that shows the way to the waterfall. Just continue past the temple to the next curve, where you can clearly see the starting point of the hiking trail.

Garud Chatti waterfall hike
Hiking route: 1.5 km
Duration with time at the waterfalls
difficulty: Simple
The way to the Garud Chatti waterfall is quite easy to drive, but in places a bit steep. My advice is to simply follow the leaked path that leads to the waterfalls. It takes about 25-30 minutes to reach the main level of the waterfall, and only about 5-10 minutes upstream to the other steps.
Although it is very difficult to get lost, I attached the exact GPS locations of the two main stages below, which I visited during my trip to the Garud Chatti waterfall from Rishikesh.
I was also told that wild elephants inhabit the forests around Rishikesh. I am not sure how true that is, or if so, how often the elephants would cross these traces. However, it is probably a certain thing to keep your eyes open in any case.

What to expect at the Garud Chatti waterfall in Rishikesh
A hike to the Garud Chatti waterfall from Rishikesh is a great way to spend a day exploring the surrounding forests. Below I wrote a little about what to expect at the two main water cases at the Garud Chatti Falls and the nearby limestone caves.
It is possible to move on to the second stage to a total of 7 different waterfalls along the way. However, the upper waterfalls are much less impressive. If you want to enjoy the hike and continue, I would recommend it. However, do not expect better waterfalls upstream.

Level 1:
The main level of the Garud Chatti Waterfall waterfall is a falling waterfall that is hidden for a bend in the limestone cliff. There is a flat, hip -deep freshwater pool that is ideal for a fast bathroom.
This waterfall is about 6-7 m high, with a solid tower current that jumps out of the middle of the waterfall when the current flows around the bend.
This level of the Garud-Chatti waterfall is usually the most visited. So if it is too crowded, I would recommend going to the left to the upper levels on the outstanding path.

limestone caves
directly above the first waterfall there is a section with wide limestone caves that you can explore. These caves are not exactly deep, but still a nice pit stop for the hike.

2nd place:
The second level of the Garud Chatti waterfall is the best in my opinion. I say that because it is usually remote and gets more sunlight in the afternoon.
Although this level is smaller than the main waterfall, it still has a similarly deep swimming hole on its base - perfect for a quick swimming and a relaxing stop.

where in Rishikesh
After I had spent a few weeks to relax and experience all the epic things that can be done and seen in Rishikesh, I finally stayed in a few different hotels and hostels. The most important thing you should pay attention to in Rishikesh is the location.
Many backpackers, including me, recommend staying in the Tapovan area. There are so many things to do in Tapovan because this is the most important tourist area in Rishikesh. It doesn't matter whether you live on the south or north side, as everything can be reached on foot.
My favorite hostel in Rishikesh: Live Free Hostel After looking at a few hostels, Live Free definitely had the best atmosphere. In addition to an inner courtyard and comfortable rooms, there is also a large meeting point on the ground floor, where joint cooking activities and film evenings take place. There is also free morning yoga on the roof. Beds are also incredibly cheap, for less than $ 4 per night! However, when I booked, it was cheaper at booking.com for some reason than with Hostelworld for this hostel.

Best budget private room: Hotel Yogwenn prefers to relax alone or in pairs, the Hotel Yog is one of the best budget hotels in the Tapovan area. The rooms are considered inexpensive, but are somewhat more expensive than the nearby hostels. But for only about $ 20 per night for spacious rooms with a view of the mountains, a continental breakfast and a roof terrace you can really do nothing.

The best rated yoga resort: Rudram Hotel Yoga and Ayurveda Retreat Do you want to make a whole range of yoga in Rishikesh, but still stay in the Tapovan area? This place offers yoga courses and free yoga classes on the ganges. The rooms are super comfortable and have air conditioning and mountain views.
