Gayatri Mata Tempel Pushkar (Pap Mochani) - viewpoint on the hill
Gayatri Mata Tempel Pushkar (Pap Mochani) - viewpoint on the hill
The Gayatri Mata Temple Pushkar, also known as Pap Mochani, is a small temple on a hill that offers a great view of Pushkar and can be reached from the ghat within 20 minutes.
Are you looking for a viewpoint for sunrise or sunset or just a great view of Pushkar, which is only a few minutes' walk from the lake? The Gayatri-Mata Temple is one of the best viewpoints of Pushkar and is unfortunately often overshadowed by the more well-known Savitri temple.
In this guide, however, I hope to convince you to give the markets a break and to take the short 20-minute hike to the Gayatri Mata Temple to enjoy an excellent view of Pushkar, the Ghat and the surrounding desert landscape.

Gayatri-Mata Temple in Pushkar-where is that?
The Gayatri Mata Temple Trail is located behind Marwar bus station, just 10 minutes from Lake Pushkar. You will probably see the small hill directly behind Pushkar directly in the north.
Unfortunately, Google Maps can initially be a bit confusing, since a false PIN is actually displayed when looking for "Gayatri Mata Temple". Instead, look for "Gayatri Mata Pap Mochani" to specify the right location. I marked the right place on the map below.
Go from the lake to the north to the bus stop and go around you, right near the One Light Hostel, where the street is fork. Take the right fork and continue on this street until you see the dirt road that leads the hill.
Hike to the Gayatri-Mata Temple
Well, it's not really a big hike. From the base you may need 10 minutes to reach the temple on the hill. The path is only a worn out path on the slope with a few step sections, which you can easily follow.
Although not as steep or high as the more popular Savitri temple, you have a closer look at Pushkar from above. Alt = “Gayatri Mata Tempel hike in Pushkar”>

About the temple
The Gayatri-Mata Temple is a further dedication to the woman of Lord Brahma, Savitri. To be honest, this temple is not very impressive, especially if you consider the incredible religious structures in Pushkar.
The Hellrosa coloring actually makes it a unique temple, especially due to the strange contrast to the dry landscape of Pushkar.
I was told that the Hindu priests are only in the temple shortly after sunrise and before sunset. Unfortunately, nobody was in the temple during my visit. As a result, I could not ask for the second name of the temple; Pap Mochani. There is also very few information online, so if you find out or know the meaning, let me know!

Pushkar views
From above you have a panoramic view of Pushkar with a clear view of the lake and the ghats as well as the mountains and valleys in the distance.
The view of the Gayatri Mata Tempel (Pap Mochani) is better than the view from the opposite Savitri Temple. This applies in particular to sunny hikes when the sun rises behind the hill and the lake and the city beautifully illuminated.

where to stay in Pushkar - accommodation leader
With so many accommodation opportunities in Pushkar, I can understand the frustration when booking. When choosing, I recommend finding a place near the lake. This is because most activities in Pushkar are only a few minutes' walk from the lake. Since accommodations in Pushkar are plentiful and cheap, there is really little reason not to book a bed near the action.
Where I stayed: Madpackers Pushkar This hostel made my entire visit to Pushkar and the atmosphere fits the goal perfectly. It was awarded India in 2019 by Hostelworld for its atmosphere, three terraces, a chill area on the roof and a yoga/camping terrace as India's best hostel. In order to make things even better, dormitories cost about $ 6 per night. For me, this is a child's play and one that I can recommend without problems.
Private room with the best price-performance ratio: Varah Square Guest Houseine of the few accommodation opportunities in Pushkar without a negative assessment. Near the ghat with a view from the roof terrace on Pushkar and the surrounding mountains. Budget rooms only cost about $ 5 while you can get a deluxe room with a view for $ 2.
