Package trip initiative: Together for more safety and quality!

The association “Initiative Package Travel e.V.” has set itself the goal of giving package tours more weight and meaning again. The initiative was founded in May at the Munich headquarters of the rental car broker Sunny Cars with 21 participants. The main initiators include Cornelius Meyer, Berend Rieckmann, Ulrike Katz and Jürgen Büchy. The association sees itself as a platform for education, exchange and advocacy in order to make the advantages of the package holiday better known and to anchor it as a strong brand. The initiative relies on broad support from across the industry.

Prominent personalities were elected to the initiative's board: Berend Rieckmann, a strategy consultant, Jürgen Büchy, a long-time railway manager and former DRV president, and Marina Ackermann, strategy consultant and trainer. Büchy emphasizes the safety, reliability and value for money of the package tour. Rieckmann emphasizes the legal protection and the quality of the overall package, while Ackermann points out that families and frequent travelers in particular can benefit from well-made package holidays.

Strategy and goals

The initiative has three main goals: Firstly, education and campaigns are to be initiated to convey the added value of the package holiday. In addition, sales are supported by argumentation aids, training and exchange formats. Another central aspect is promoting dialogue with associations, training centers and the media. The initial ideas were summarized in a concept paper to plan and implement the initiative's approach.

Some initial discussions with organizers, sales partners and associations show predominantly positive feedback on the initiative. Organizers were informed in detail about the project, and constructive suggestions from the industry were incorporated into the further working papers. This shows the commitment to seek dialogue and advance the industry together.

Members and support

The initiative is open to new members from all areas of the travel industry, including tour operators, travel agents, sales organizations, technology partners and service providers. Support from the target areas is also desired. Anyone interested in contributing to the success of the initiative is invited to take part. Further information is on the website www.initiative-pauschalreise.de available.

The package tour initiative not only wants to inform, but also inspire and thus create a new incentive for travelers. Given the changing travel world, promoting package holidays as a reliable and contemporary product could make a decisive contribution.
