International Museum Day: Discover treasure hunt in Burghaun!
On May 18, 2025, the 48th International Museum Day takes place in the Burghaun community museum. This day is an excellent opportunity to emphasize the social role of the museums and to discover the diverse range of facilities. Visitors are cordially invited to take part in various actions and to explore the museum's treasures.
A special highlight of the day is the lecture by Jürgen Schneider, the head of the pre- and early history department in the Konrad-Zusemus Museum Hünfeld. The lecture focuses on the Burghaun excavations from 2012, in particular on the discovery of an impressive hill grave from the Bronze Age. Schneider will discuss the circumstances and the associated archaeological work and share interesting findings from the investigations.

The community museum opens its doors at 3:00 p.m. and admission is free of charge. Jürgen Schneider's lecture begins at 3:15 p.m. In addition to the lecture, there is the possibility for visitors to visit the objects recovered during the excavations and other finds from different eras. This offers an exciting insight into the history of the region.
The museum café is available for social exchange, which is open until 6:00 p.m. Here visitors can not only enjoy coffee and cake, but also get into conversation and exchange ideas about the experiences of the day.
