Katja Ebstein returns: anniversary appearance in the ZDF television garden!

Katja Ebstein, the successful German participant in the Eurovision Song Contest, will appear on “ZDF- Fernsehengarten” on June 15, 2025. This appearance is part of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of presenting Andrea Kiewel, who has led the format for a quarter of a century, apart from a short break. Previously, Ebstein was last seen on September 4, 2022 in the “Fernsehgarten”, where she presented a hit medley as part of the “Goldene Kultschlager” program. Katja Ebstein was born on March 9, 1945 near Breslau, Silesia and fled to West Berlin with her family as a child. The artist attended university, where she studied archeology and art and was actively involved in the student movement. In 1969 she received her first record contract and from then on called herself Katja Ebstein. In the 1970s she appeared frequently on television and released numerous albums. Her second ESC appearance was in 1971 with the title “This World”, where she again achieved third place.

Ebstein also campaigned for social issues outside of music, was involved in the peace and anti-nuclear power movements and achieved great recognition through her activities in environmental and child welfare. She received the Federal Cross of Merit in 2008 for her commitment. In the 1990s, Katja turned to literature and celebrated her 65th birthday in 2010 with a special stage program.

A comeback in the music business

In recent years, Katja Ebstein has performed less frequently, but she remains an outstanding figure in the German music scene. Her cover version of “Wunder sind immer immer” with the rapper JokA, which was released in 2011, made it into the German hip-hop download charts.
