Kitzeck celebrates: renovation of the elementary school and new perspectives!
On May 16, 2025, the community of Kitzeck will celebrate a significant milestone with the completion of the third and final construction phase of the renovation of the elementary school. This comprehensive measure includes the thermal renovation of the entire building as well as the construction of a new roof, which is intended to support the energy-efficient operation of the school.
As part of the project, the outdoor area was also redesigned, with a particular focus on creating attractive green spaces. Another central element of the project is the planned construction of a photovoltaic system on the roof of the school, which is intended to help reduce energy costs and thus create a place of well-being for both the children and the teaching staff.
Digital developments and infrastructure projects
The community is also working on digitalization in the water and wastewater sector, which is scheduled to be completed next year. The general renovation of Roman Road is also scheduled to begin this year. To finance the Roman road, funds were secured from the maintenance program, needs allocations and community shares, which supports the continuous development of the infrastructure in Kitzeck.
Against the background of positive tourism developments in the area, many accommodation establishments, taverns and restaurants have seen an increase in guests. A sign of the success of regional tourism is the 70th anniversary of the South Styrian Wine Route, which is expected to attract a high number of visitors. Despite this progress, restaurateurs face challenges: The shortage of skilled workers in the catering industry means that many wine taverns have to remain closed on Sundays.
Challenges in the catering industry
Current developments in the Styrian hospitality industry show that the advocacy group regularly provides content on important topics and challenges. According to the business representative's offer, price calculation in the catering industry is a crucial aspect, as small changes can have major economic effects. In the current phase of structural change in the catering industry, the diversity of businesses has reduced, exacerbated by the corona pandemic.
In order to counteract this shortage of skilled workers, various online seminars offer support, such as a webinar by Werner Heimgartner on employer branding, which addresses targeted measures to attract and retain employees. In addition, important strategic workshops on revenue management and digital transformation in tourism were initiated in order to offer companies reliable planning prospects.
Increasing digitalization plays a central role in the catering and hotel industries. Among other things, webinars will be offered on social media trends 2024 and their importance for the online presence of restaurateurs. These programs are closely linked to efforts to strengthen the employer brand and draw attention to the attractiveness of the industry.
Despite the challenges, the mood among restaurateurs remains positive and there is increased effort to future-proof the industry and meet the needs of guests. The focus on continuing education and adapting to new trends is crucial to remaining competitive in the dynamic market.
