Creative minds in Quang Nam: Art and culture in transition after 50 years of peace!

The Quang Nam Literature and Arts Creation Camp 2025 will take place in a semi-centralized form for the first time this year. Over 50 members from various disciplines gather to discuss the main theme of the camp: the development of the Quang Nam homeland after 50 years of peace. The camp, which lasts almost 3 months, is limited to 3 days for excursions that allow participants to gain deeper insights into the culture and nature of the region.

Poet Nguyen Tan Ai highlights the multidisciplinary nature of the camp and emphasizes the important exchange between artists from different fields. Folklore researcher Tran Van An explains that the camp helped him better understand cultural connections and folk art in Quang Nam. These interdisciplinary approaches not only stimulate the creative energy of the participants, but also enable the production of new works.

Creative energy and new works

Many artists reported a noticeable increase in their creative productivity, with some creating up to 10-20 new works. These works of art reflect not only the beauty of the landscape, but also the development expectations of Quang Nam. Exhibits include:

The themes of the poems and music pieces at the camp deal with home and its changes after the war. These creative works have the potential to promote cultural awareness and increase pride in Quang Nam traditions. Various genres such as memoirs, short stories and critical theories also find their place in the camp.

A look at cultural identity

While art and cultural identity are celebrated in Quang Nam, there are significant challenges to cultural assets worldwide. The Russian war against Ukraine poses a direct threat to museums, memorials and the country's architectural heritage. The destruction of cultural assets is seen as an attempt to deny and erase Ukraine's independent roots bpb.de reported.

An example of the relevance of art in times of conflict is the collection of Anatoliy Dymchuk, which represents one of the largest art collections in Ukraine. It contains iconographic works by renowned Ukrainian artists, with a focus on oppositional art from the 1960s to the 1980s and contemporary art from the early 1990s to the present day. A lecture by Dymchuk's curator Maksim Kovalchuk will present selected works that reflect the country's history and the struggle for self-determination and democracy.

Although the Quang Nam Literature and Arts Creation Camp is ending, it opens new creative avenues and promotes the country's aspirations. Dialogue about cultural identity and the protection of cultural property are therefore central to preserving the diversity and uniqueness of the human experience.
