An impressive performance of the musical “The Black Raven” took place at the Kulturwerk in Wissen, which the dance school “Dance-Point” presented on the occasion of its 20th anniversary. The owner Bettina Witt wrote the musical, which is based on a repressed incident in a dance school. Around 700 enthusiastic spectators were present, who honored the performance of around 120 actors with loud applause.
The musical tells the story of a young couple, Linda and Niko, who are on a city trip. In a music store they discover a record and a piece of paper with a choreography, which leads to a series of misunderstandings that ultimately lead to the separation of the two protagonists. While Niko stays in town to research the "hidden dance", the music store owner Max and his sister Carla try to prevent the dance from being performed. Max is haunted by a painful memory from the past: ten years ago his wife died in a fire at the dance school.
A battle between good and evil
The theme of the musical revolves around the fight between good and evil, power and powerlessness. The black raven, who appears charismatic and seductive, wants to destroy the colorful things in the world and subordinate everything to his dark power. Although he promises freedom, it quickly becomes apparent that he only has his own well-being in mind.
Despite the obstacles, there is hope: Tara's daughter from Carla has decided to revive the dance tradition. Together with her classmates, she begins to secretly reconstruct the choreography. Max, deep in his grief, gives Tara the record and the piece of paper with the choreography, which gives the story a twist. Ultimately, Niko and Linda find each other again and complete the primary task of the musical.
Preparations for the musical began in November 2023, followed by the first rehearsals in February 2025. In order to combine singing, acting and dance, monthly rehearsals took place, which prepared the ensemble excellently for the performance. The ensemble's performance was appreciated with great enthusiasm by spectators, including local politicians.
For the audience, the performance was not only a cultural experience, but also a reminder of the power of community and art. The musical The Black Raven is considered an important part of local culture, both entertaining and thought-provoking.
