Miriam Wohlfarth and Stephanie Pfeil-Coenen: Bold Woman Awards in Berlin!

On June 5, 2025, the ceremonial presentation of the renowned Bold Woman Award took place in Berlin, hosted by Veuve Clicquot. The two entrepreneurs Miriam Wohlfarth and Stephanie Pfeil-Coenen were honored in the picturesque thatched house. This honor is intended to make the top entrepreneurial achievements of women visible and inspire.

The Bold Woman Award, which has been presented since 1972, has honored over 450 women from more than 20 countries. 200 years after its founding, the Veuve Clicquot champagne house received special recognition by honoring women who achieve excellence in their respective fields. The winners were selected from a field of six finalists by a jury of distinguished personalities, including Thurid Kahl and Sibel Kekilli.

The award winners

Miriam Wohlfarth is Co-CEO of Banxware, a company that has been offering embedded finance solutions for small and medium-sized businesses since 2020. With over 30 million euros in funding collected and more than 45 employees, Wohlfarth has played an important role in the financial industry. She also previously founded Ratepay and the industry portal paymentandbanking.com. Her political activity in the Digital Finance Forum of the Federal Ministry of Finance as well as her roles on various supervisory boards underline her commitment and competence. Last but not least, she was named “Person of the Year” by the Handelsblatt in 2022.

Stephanie Pfeil-Coenen, on the other hand, is the CEO and founder of the biotech start-up Phaeosynt, which was founded in 2023. Her company produces plant-based antibodies in a sustainable, cruelty-free way using diatoms. Innovation is her top priority as she is currently working on a vegan pregnancy test and sees the potential to replace laboratory mice through algae culture. In spring 2025, her company secured a seed round of 1.7 million euros. Pfeil-Coenen was also recognized for her sustainability initiatives and received the Digital Female Leader Award in the “Sustainability” category in 2024.

An unforgettable evening

The gala, attended by around 100 guests from the fields of business, media and culture, was moderated by Jenny Augusta. Star chef Julia Komp pampered those present with her modern culinary creations. The most prominent guests included Motsi Mabuse, Vivien Wulf and Jill Asemota, who contributed to the festive atmosphere with their presence.

The award not only honors the current winners, but also aims to encourage future generations of women to stand up for their beliefs. The Bold Woman Award will continue to serve as a platform to highlight remarkable achievements by women and tell their stories, as founder Madame Clicquot did in 1805 when she took over the champagne house at the age of 27 and introduced groundbreaking innovations.

In this sense, the Bold Woman Award will continue to play an important role in recognizing women in business and supporting their influence on society.
