MORK FA Waterfall Chiang Mai - Complete Guide
MORK FA Waterfall Chiang Mai - Complete Guide
MORK FA Waterfall Chiang Mai must be one of the best hidden jewels in Chiang Mai. MORK FA is only a short 50-minute scooter ride away and is a must if you are looking for a real jungle water case away from the masses of Doi Suthep.
We visited the Mark FA waterfall on a day trip from Chiang Mai, right after we stopped at the BUA Tong Wasserfall (sticky waterfall). If you fancy a full day trip with a waterfall hunt, it is definitely worth visiting these two waterfalls on your trip north of Chiang Mai (more on that later).
Waterfall Mark Fa-where is that?
The Mark FA Waterfall is located deep in the jungle of the Doi Suthep - Pui National Park. However, it is a little further away than the other waterfalls around Doi Suthep. In fact, it takes about 50 minutes to get here from the old town in Chiang Mai.
Apart from that, you can drive down the mountain road almost almost to the waterfall, with just a short 10-minute walk from the entrance parking lot to the waterfall. It is best to find it by following the card PIN or using Google Maps. If you get lost, follow the instructions below. How do I get here
The best way to get to the Mark Fa waterfall is to rent a moped in Chiang Mai and drive here. Since this waterfall is off the usual tourist hype, you will hardly find a travel company that will do tours here.
However, if you feel safe on a motorcycle and are ready to explore a waterfall off the beaten path, then a visit to the Mark FA Waterfall from Chiang Mai is worthwhile.
directions:
- Take the 1001 or the 107, which leads from the old town of Chiang Mai to the north
- bend on the left to the 1095 to the west
- Follow this street until you see signs to the Mark Fa waterfall on the left side
- Follow the winding forest road to the parking lot of the Mark Fa waterfall
TIP: The regular motorcycle rental price in Chiang Mai is 150-200 baht a day. I would propose to drive at least with a 100 cc motorcycle like a Honda Click because a large part of this trip leads over the highway. If you are looking for other means of transport in Chiang Mai, you can book vans and cars here.

Mark FA Waterfall Entry fee 2020
The admission price for this waterfall is currently 100 baht per person.
This is more expensive than other waterfalls in the area, but we thought it was worth it because they can spend a lot of time with swimming and exploring.

What you can expect at the Mork Fa Wasserfall Chiang Mai
After you have paid for admission, go to the right and follow the wooden signs that lead to the waterfall after about 10 minutes.
waterfall height: 60 meter pool depth: ~ 1 meter
MORK FA Waterfall Chiang Mai is a high, falling waterfall at the end of the river. On arrival you can see a huge semi -circular neckline in the rock wall, which forms a large amphitheater in the middle of the jungle.
A dense jungle vegetation grows on all cliffs, which creates a rather magical scenery. On the banks of the waterfall basin you will find soft, white sand, just like on the beach! This makes it a great place to chill, swim and relax.
The pool is slightly deep enough to swim in it. You can even swim behind the foot of the waterfall and climb on the small rocks behind it.
You will not find many foreign tourists who visit this hidden waterfall. When we were here in the high season, we only saw another group of Thai tourists.

Do not miss Tham Mok Fa (bat cavity)
Do you think you're ready to go? Do not miss the MOK FA cave (Mark Fa Cave). On the way outside, you can see a wooden signpost that points to the left and leads the cliff up to a large cave. Follow this new path around the curve until you reach the entrance.

At the cave entrance you have a great view of the waterfall from above. If you had difficulty accommodating the entire 60-meter waterfall from below in a single frame, this may be your chance to recover.

The MOK FA cave itself is not huge, but worth a visit. There are two large caves with epic light rays that shine in when they visit them early in the morning. The cave is also the home of hundreds of bats, so make sure that you pay attention to sneaky bats that are willing to drop a surprise on your head.
