New bike service stations in Bernau: Repairs now free of charge!
The ADAC bike service stations are now also active in Bernau am Chiemsee. Today, May 19, 2025, two new stations went into operation in this popular holiday region. This ADAC initiative aims to create a free bicycle service infrastructure that contributes to improving road safety and the attractiveness of cycling in southern Bavaria. The stations offer cyclists, but also users of strollers, e-scooters and wheelchairs, the opportunity to carry out minor repairs themselves.
The new bike service stations are located at two central locations in Bernau: at the future tourist information office on Aschauer Straße and at the train station on Baumannstraße. Equipped with various tools, including a foot pump and tire levers, the stations provide everything you need for simple repairs. In addition, a QR code is attached to each pillar, which links to a website with useful usage videos to offer cyclists optimal support.
Opening and location information
The ceremonial opening was carried out by Irene Biebl-Daiber, the mayor of Bernau, as well as Frederik Sperber from ADAC Südbayern and Claudia Rieling from the Tourist Information. The stations can be used free of charge around the clock, regardless of ADAC membership. This means that all visitors to the region can benefit from this convenient service.
Bernau am Chiemsee is one of the most popular places for cycling holidaymakers. The region is known for its attractive cycle paths, especially the Chiemsee cycle path and the Königssee-Bodensee cycle path, which lead directly through the community. These new bike service stations are an important contribution to promoting cycling in the area and offer users the opportunity to easily maintain their bikes.
ADAC's commitment to cycling
The bike service stations are part of a broad ADAC initiative that is being implemented in many cities and popular leisure regions throughout Germany. The stations are available at numerous locations, such as Aschau im Chiemgau, Bad Füssing, Freyung, Germering, Illertissen, Munich, Berlin, Bremen, Cologne and Magdeburg. The stations are equipped with high-quality tools to support a variety of forms of transportation, including skateboards.
There is also an additional advantage for ADAC members: If a repair is not successful, they can take advantage of ADAC bicycle breakdown assistance. This underlines ADAC's commitment to further improving safety and mobility on two wheels in Germany.
