Moormerland takes off: holiday happiness with an image film and new souvenirs!
Moormerland, a charming community in the city triangle between Leer, Emden and Aurich, is the focus of exciting tourism efforts for 2024. An image film is currently being developed to highlight the region's advantages and attract visitors. In 2023, 74,478 overnight stays were registered in Moormerland. For 2024, the municipality expects a little less, specifically 70,918 overnight stays.
However, bookings via the local booking system have increased: from 634 in 2023 to 678 in 2024. This positive development signals the growing interest in the region, which is characterized by its vast landscape and unspoiled nature. Particularly noteworthy is the unique junction system, which offers ideal conditions for bicycle tours. The natural canals also invite you to go on canoe tours, which reflect the quiet life of the East Frisians.
Measures and events
The municipality continues to plan a number of measures to promote tourism. Participation in various face-to-face trade fairs is planned, among other things. Presentations took place at Münster/Osnabrück Airport and at the “Rad & Leisure” trade fair in Bonn in January and March 2024. Other planned appearances include the “LandTage Nord” in Wüsting from August 22nd to 25th and the Lower Saxony Day in Osnabrück from August 29th to 31st.
In addition, events are also held in Moormerland to entertain local and foreign guests. These include the summer evening at the town hall on July 23rd, the Moormerland wine festival on July 25th and 26th and a charity event by the East Frisia Rapid Response Forces Medical Service Command on August 20th.
New souvenirs and a child-friendly offer
To support local tourism, the municipality has introduced new souvenirs. From now on, visitors will find T-shirts, sweat jackets, cotton bags and large thermal drinking cups that bear the Moormerland branding. A coloring book for children entitled “My coloring book from Moormerland” is also being published. This edition of 500 copies aims to appeal to the youngest guests and take a piece of Moormerland home with them.
The innovative image film, which is 1.15 minutes long, shows activities such as cycling and canoeing and is presented on social media and the region's tourism website. Through these measures, Moormerland aims to effectively communicate the region's natural beauty and leisure opportunities and attract a wider audience.
Moormerland, which emerged from eleven formerly independent villages, is characterized by a high level of cultural diversity and landscape types. The Fehn villages with their long canals and small farming villages offer visitors the opportunity to experience the authentic life of the East Frisians up close. The special characteristics of each location give the region its characteristic charm, making it an attractive destination for holidaymakers.
