In Lower Saxony, bookings for the holidays around Ascension and Pentecost are extremely positive. According to a report by Time online Many holidaymakers have used these long weekends for short trips, which leads to high demand in tourist resorts in the region between the North Sea coast and the Harz. The accommodation providers report an occupancy rate of between 70 and 90 percent; some even report overcrowding of over 90 percent.
In East Frisia, long weekends are considered the busiest days of the year. Wiebke Leverenz from Ostfriesland Tourismus GmbH calls the booking situation “very pleasing”. The region also expects a high volume of visitors to the East Frisian Islands, which is why the Norden-Frisia shipping company is planning additional ferry departures to Juist and Norderney. There will be 13 departures to Norderney on Ascension Day and 19 departures on Wednesday. The return traffic on Sunday also promises to be very busy, as some ferries are already fully booked.
Weather forecasts and hopes of tourism professionals
Despite the positive booking numbers, there are concerns about the weather with rainfall forecast in some parts. Nevertheless, tourism experts are not discouraged and are hoping for better weather in order to attract day tourists. The booking situation in the Harz is similarly optimistic. The hosts expect that the sunny weather will increase demand compared to last year. The booking situation for the Whitsun holidays is just as good here as it was last year, and positive signals are coming from the campsites.
The accommodation on the Lüneburg Heath is almost fully booked for Ascension Day, but there are still places left for the Pentecost weekend. The region attracts many hikers who want to explore the varied landscape.

- Christi Himmelfahrt: Am Donnerstag, den 09. Mai 2024, ist von 04.05. bis 12.05. mit 4 Urlaubstagen eine Freistellung von 9 Tagen möglich.
- Pfingsten: Pfingstsonntag am 19. Mai 2024 und Pfingstmontag am 20. Mai 2024. Hier können wieder mit 4 Urlaubstagen 9 freie Tage in der Zeit vom 18.05. bis 26.05. geplant werden.
- Kombination von Feiertagen: 09.05. bis 20.05.: 6 Urlaubstage = 12 freie Tage.
