Zuiderzee, Niederlande - On June 21, 2025, the wish car, a project by the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB), fulfilled a very special wish: Maria from North Rhine-Westphalia was allowed to visit her longing in the Netherlands and spend a day at the sea. This initiative is committed to enabling serious people to make unforgettable experiences. Among other things, Maria's journey was shaped by her medical needs because it is permanently dependent on oxygen. This makes every trip complicated, especially because your mobile oxygen concentrator only has a short -lived battery.

The desired team ensured that all the necessary precautions were taken to make the trip an unforgettable experience. An important measure was the installation of a 230 V socket in the vehicle, which made it possible to charge the oxygen concentrator while driving. Maria was accompanied by a caregiver on her journey and received by her daughter and her partner at the destination.

The tour group initially had to struggle with inconsistent weather, which influenced their plans for the day. Instead of driving directly to the sea, they decided to visit the "De Kaap" fish restaurant to fortify themselves of a delicious meal. Thanks to an extension cable, Maria was able to concentrate entirely on the experience without having to worry about the battery of her oxygen device.

After strengthening, the weather improved and the group made its way to the sea. Maria almost reached the waterline with her wheelchair and enjoyed the breathtaking view over the Zuiderzee. "It was a fulfilled day full of shared experiences," reports the desiration on Facebook about this special excursion. The day ended for Maria and her companions with a cup of coffee in a restaurant with a sea view. On the way home there was also Maria's partner who lives with her in a facility.
