Upper Bavarian meets star guitarist Jim Root – an unforgettable holiday moment!
Christian Pfeng, a 45-year-old from Upper Bavaria, recently had the unique luck of meeting his idol, James “Jim” Root, in a restaurant in Verona. Jim Root, 53 years old and known as the guitarist of the metal band Slipknot, was in town as the band had days off after a performance in Interlaken, Switzerland, before their June 17 show in Ferrara. The encounter between Pfeng and Root took place on Monday evening, June 16th, at the L’Evangelista restaurant.
Pfeng was on a short trip to Verona with his family, including his wife, daughter and their dog Gustl. Despite the iconic masks worn by Slipknot, Pfeng recognized Root immediately. He had previously studied the musician intensively and recently watched interviews and live performances by Root without a mask. Although Pfeng was nervous at first and didn't want to intrude, he waited until Root had finished eating before taking the bold step of speaking to him.
An unforgettable exchange
The conversations between Pfeng and Root were warm and included, among other things, the cute dog Gustl, who Root liked very much. The Upper Bavarian describes the encounter as an extraordinary experience that made his vacation unforgettable. To capture this special moment, a photo was taken showing Pfeng, his family and Root together.
Slipknot, formed in 1995, is known for their aggressive sound, theatrical masks and energetic performances. The band has experienced several line-up changes over the years, due to member deaths, layoffs and creative differences. Audience favorites like Shawn “Clown” Crahan and Corey Taylor are central figures in the band and shape their identity.
