How do you get to the Patna Waterfall Rishikesh?
The Patna waterfall is about 5 km from the Laxman Jhula Bridge in Rishikesh in the picturesque neighboring village of Patna.
To get here, you can either rent a motorcycle in one of the many shops in the Tapovan area or run a little more than an hour on the Neelkanth Temple Road on the south side of the Ganges.
The waterfall path is located directly on this main street, shortly after the Garud chatti cases. At the starting point you will also find some stands where snacks and chai are sold. There are no signs that indicate the beginning of the hike to the Patna waterfall, but you see him directly opposite the "Sidh-Bali Temple". Neelkanth Temple ”, as pinned on Google Maps.
No fee is charged for visiting the Patna waterfall.
I marked the exact position of the waterfall on the map below so that you can find it easier.

Trekking for the Patna Wasserfall
Hiking route: 3 km back
Duration: 2 hours at the waterfall
difficulty: Simple
As soon as you arrive at the starting point next to the stands on the Neelkanth Temple Road, you can expect a short but scenic 1.5 km long hiking trail through the Rajaji forest to the Patna Falls.
This route is a little steep, but should not be too difficult for most people with an appropriate condition.
After a short climb on a wide, obvious path through the picturesque forest, you reach the Patna waterfall, a high limestone rock that is embedded in the jungle.

What can be expected
The waterfall is quite high, but offers little in terms of solid current. However, the gentle rippling of the fresh water on the limestone wall is a picturesque place to relax.
directly below the waterfall there is a small, flat pool in which you can enjoy a natural shower on a warm day.

I was told that the Patna waterfall can dry out completely in the summer months. Conversely, this waterfall pours on the track during the monsoon, which makes access muddy and difficult.
The Patna waterfall is by no means the most impressive waterfall in Rishikesh. However, I still classified this as one of the best short hikes and excursions from Rishikesh.
There are also some small limestone caves nearby that you can explore.

where in Rishikesh
After I had spent a few weeks to relax and experience all the epic things that can be done and seen in Rishikesh, I finally stayed in a few different hotels and hostels. The most important thing you should pay attention to in Rishikesh is the location.
Many backpackers, including me, recommend staying in the Tapovan area. There are so many things to do in Tapovan because this is the most important tourist area in Rishikesh. It doesn't matter whether you live on the south or north side, as everything can be reached on foot.
My favorite hostel in Rishikesh: Live Free Hostel After looking at a few hostels, Live Free definitely had the best atmosphere. In addition to an inner courtyard and comfortable rooms, there is also a large meeting point on the ground floor, where joint cooking activities and film evenings take place. There is also free morning yoga on the roof. Beds are also incredibly cheap, for less than $ 4 per night! However, when I booked, it was cheaper at booking.com for some reason than with Hostelworld for this hostel.

Best budget private room: Hotel Yogwenn prefers to relax alone or in pairs, the Hotel Yog is one of the best budget hotels in the Tapovan area. The rooms are considered inexpensive, but are somewhat more expensive than the nearby hostels. But for only about $ 20 per night for spacious rooms with a view of the mountains, a continental breakfast and a roof terrace you can really do nothing.

The best rated yoga resort: Rudram Hotel Yoga and Ayurveda Retreat Do you want to make a whole range of yoga in Rishikesh, but still stay in the Tapovan area? This place offers yoga courses and free yoga classes on the ganges. The rooms are super comfortable and have air conditioning and mountain views.
