Quang Binh relies on tourism ambassadors: a new era begins!

The Phong Nha-Ke Bang area has seen remarkable development in the tourism sector. Le Chieu Nguyen, deputy director of the PN-KB tourism center, explains that the grassroots union now has 162 members. These members are not only well trained but also equipped with technical skills and show a high level of responsibility when dealing with tourists. A central element of this development is the “Every member and every employee is a tourism ambassador” initiative, which was launched in April 2024.

The aim of this movement is to strengthen the sense of responsibility and attitude towards tourist service. This is done by promoting positive actions, improving communication and targeted advertising for the Quang Binh region. Particularly noteworthy is Mr. Ta Minh Tam, captain of boat number 125. With over 20 years of experience in driving boats on the Son River, he emphasizes the importance of treating visitors professionally and politely.

The responsibility of tourism ambassadors

Both Tam and his colleague Nguyen Thi Hang have returned lost items several times. For example, Tam returned about VND50 million to tourists as well as important documents, while Hang found and returned a wallet containing VND20 million. These actions underscore their belief that giving back property is not only a responsibility but also a sign of kindness.

As part of the initiative, 130 employees will be actively working to return lost items in 2024. The PN-KB Tourism Center manages a total of 401 tourist boats, 175 photographers and 46 souvenir and drink stalls. All of these measures contribute to increasing the quality of destinations and improving the competitiveness of tourism products.

Tourist highlights: Tien Son Cave

Another highlight in the Phong Nha-Ke Bang area is the Tien Son Cave, also known as the dry cave. This cave, discovered in 1935 and originally called Tien Cave, is located about 1,000 meters from the entrance door to Phong Nha Cave. However, the cave has not received the attention it deserves due to difficult access. From December 21, 2023, Tien Son Cave will reopen after maintenance work and will be ready to receive visitors.

Despite the current lack of awareness, Tien Son Cave offers visitors a unique experience with its colorful stalactites and a “fairytale”-like landscape. To explore the cave, visitors must climb approximately 330 steps, which offer breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape and rivers.

The entrance fee to Tien Son Cave is 80,000 VND per person. For those who want to explore both caves in one day, a boat tour package costs VND550,000 for up to 12 guests. While exploring the cave, it is recommended to handle stalagmites and stalactites carefully so as not to damage the delicate structures.

These developments and highlights show how Quang Binh is becoming even more attractive as an emerging tourist destination. The combination of dedicated staff representing the region as ambassadors and unique natural attractions such as Tien Son Cave promises to significantly increase tourist numbers in the future.
