Ski areas unite forces: sustainability is the focus of the winter season!

On May 7th, 2025 at the Interalpin in Innsbruck Global Sustainability Ski Alliance founded, the first of its kind in the ski industry. This initiative brings together leading international ski resorts with the aim of reducing emissions in ski tourism and driving sustainable innovation.

Members of the alliance are renowned ski resorts, including KitzSki from Austria, Compagnie des Alpes from France, Kronplatz from Italy, LAAX from Switzerland, Levi Ski Resorts from Finland, NZSki from New Zealand, the Oberstdorf Kleinwalsertal Bergbahnen from Germany and SkiStar, which operates in both Sweden and Norway. These ski areas collectively represent around 25 million skier-days and operate more than 800 ski lifts.

Goals of the alliance

The Global Sustainability Ski Alliance pursues several key goals. A central point is the reduction of CO2 emissions in order to meet the climate goals of the Paris Agreement. To achieve this, members focus on developing innovations with low CO₂ emissions and standardizing environmental data to monitor their environmental footprint.
