The best waterfalls in Rishikesh

we come to the three best waterfalls in Rishics.

I have not ordered these waterfalls in a certain order. This is because every waterfall is quite different from the next. It depends on what you prefer, whether it is a remote hike or a blooming swimming hole.

1. Neer Garh waterfall

The waterfall Neer Garh may be the most famous waterfall in Rishikesh. This multi -stage waterfall is located on the hills over the northern banks of the Ganges and offers some of the deepest swimming holes and some of the most beautiful limestone cases on this list.

This waterfall is great if you prefer some variety, since some of the "hidden" lower levels are usually remote.

As soon as you climb the concrete and earth paths to the upper ranks, you will find cafes and crowds that enjoy the atmosphere.

It is also possible to continue past the top level and hike up into the hills to enjoy a great view of the surrounding mountain landscape.

2. Garud-Schatti waterfall

The next two Rishics water cases on this list are both on the south bank of the aisle. While the Garud Chatti waterfall is less popular than the waterfall Neer Garh, he can still put on a crowd.

Fortunately, after reaching the first waterfall, there is several levels to explore after a 1.5 km hike to the Rajaji forest. The two main levels have flat pools that are ideal for swimming and enjoying a fresh waterfall shower.

3. Patna waterfall

The Patna waterfall is only a short distance from the Garud Chatti waterfall and is a less impressive but less visited waterfall near Rishikesh.

The Patna waterfall is a high limestone water case, which gently down a steep cliff and trickles into a flat basin underneath.

For swimming, this waterfall does not offer much, but the short hike through the Rajaji forest makes the excursion worthwhile. If you are looking for a waterfall near Rishikesh that offers a calm and picturesque atmosphere, it may be the right one for you.

Accommodation options in Rishikesh for waterfall adventures

After I had spent a few weeks to relax and experience all the epic things that can be done and seen in Rishikesh, I finally stayed in a few different hotels and hostels. The most important thing you should pay attention to in Rishikesh is the location.

Many backpackers, including me, recommend staying in the Tapovan area. There are so many things to do in Tapovan because this is the most important tourist area in Rishikesh. It doesn't matter whether you live on the south or north side, as everything can be reached on foot.

My favorite hostel in Rishikesh: Live Free Hostel After looking at a few hostels, Live Free definitely had the best atmosphere. In addition to an inner courtyard and comfortable rooms, there is also a large meeting point on the ground floor, where joint cooking activities and film evenings take place. There is also free morning yoga on the roof. Beds are also incredibly cheap, for less than $ 4 per night! However, when I booked, it was cheaper at booking.com for some reason than with Hostelworld for this hostel.

Best budget private room: Hotel Yogwenn prefers to relax alone or in pairs, the Hotel Yog is one of the best budget hotels in the Tapovan area. The rooms are considered inexpensive, but are somewhat more expensive than the nearby hostels. But for only about $ 20 per night for spacious rooms with a view of the mountains, a continental breakfast and a roof terrace you can really do nothing.

The best rated yoga resort: Rudram Hotel Yoga and Ayurveda Retreat Do you want to make a whole range of yoga in Rishikesh, but still stay in the Tapovan area? This place offers yoga courses and free yoga classes on the ganges. The rooms are super comfortable and have air conditioning and mountain views.

Best time for a waterfall hunt in Rishics

Rishikesh has three main season; Summer, winter and monsoon.

MONSUNMONATE: July to September

Summer: March to May

Winter: October to February

The general consensus is that the best time to travel is for Rishics between September and June. This avoids the monsoon months in which torrential rains are common. Typically, the waterfalls are overcrowded, the paths muddy and white water rafting is not really possible.

Also note that April and May can get a little hot. So if you are a little heat, try a visit between September and March. March is also the time when the yoga festival begins, so this is by far the most popular time to visit Rishikesh.

Arrival to the waterfalls of Rishikesh

From the Laxman-Jhula Bridge in the Tapovan district from Rishikesh it is possible to walk to all the waterfalls listed above. I listed detailed directions and hiking information in the individual blog posts so that you shouldn't have any problems finding them.

If you don't like going on foot, you can rent a scooter for about 350-500 IR per day or a Royal Enfield for around 1500 IR.

Alternatively there are Rikscha drivers in Rishics, which you can bring for 150-250 per route to the short drive to the waterfall hikes.
