Tourism in the Miesbach district: guest numbers are collapsing!
Tourism in the Miesbach district recorded a noticeable decline in guests and overnight stays in the first quarter of 2025. Loud Mercury The main reason for this decline is the lack of snow in the winter and the postponed holiday seasons. The statistics include eight places that charge spa fees: Bad Wiessee, Bayrischzell, Fischbachau, Gmund, Kreuth, Rottach-Egern, Schliersee and Tegernsee.
A total of 111,901 guests were welcomed in the period from January to March 2025, representing a decrease of 5.8 percent compared to the previous year. The number of overnight stays fell to 381,572, a decrease of 7.1 percent compared to the 410,585 overnight stays in the previous year.
Monthly developments
The monthly values show interesting developments. While arrivals in January 2025 were still higher than the previous year, the figures for February and March fell significantly. In February there were around 4,000 arrivals and 21,000 fewer overnight stays compared to the previous year. In March there were even around 6,000 arrivals and 13,000 fewer overnight stays. Part of the 2024 Easter holidays also fell in the first quarter, which also influenced the declines.
However, some of the figures for the first quarter are preliminary. Official statistics are not published until April of the following year. It should also be noted that subsequent changes to the data may occur due to a system change in the Tegernsee Valley.
