TUI Cruises celebrates the launching of the Mein Schiff Flow” in Monfalcone!
Today, May 30, 2025, TUI Cruises and Fincantieri celebrated the floating of the new “Mein Schiff Flow” in the Monfalcone shipyard. This significant ceremony marked another milestone in the development of the ship, which is scheduled for commissioning in summer 2026. To make floating possible, around 130 million liters of water were flooded into the dry dock.
Several prominent representatives took part in the ceremony, including Daniele Fanara from Fincantieri, Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises, and shipyard director Cristiano Bazzara. The ship's godmother, Anna Russo, was also present and sealed the christening of the cruise ship with her participation.
Technical innovations and sustainability
“Mein Schiff Flow” is the second of two cruise ships in the next InTUItion class and is considered a sister ship to “Mein Schiff Relax”, which was delivered in February 2023. The new ship weighs approximately 160,000 gross tons and has been equipped with state-of-the-art technologies to minimize environmental impact and reduce energy consumption.
The vessel is designed to operate on dual fuels, including LNG and MGO. This future-proof design also enables the use of low-emission fuels such as bio- or e-LNG. It will be equipped with catalytic converters that meet Euro 6 standards and have a steam turbine that uses the residual heat from the diesel generators. An electrical shore power connection is also planned, so that operations in the port are virtually emission-free.
Environmentally friendly waste treatment
Another pioneering feature of “Mein Schiff Flow” is the innovative waste treatment system, which is able to convert organic materials into recyclable components. These developments are part of Fincantieri and TUI Cruises' long-term objectives to meet the requirements of the latest environmental regulations.
Overall, the project represents a modern and sustainable approach in the cruise sector. The collaboration between TUI Cruises and Fincantieri shows how innovation and environmental awareness can go hand in hand to offer passengers an unforgettable and environmentally friendly experience.
