VdK Immendingen explores the magical Spreewald with 51 participants!

The VdK local association Immendingen went on an exciting trip to the Spreewald from April 30th to May 4th, 2025, in which a total of 51 participants took part. On the first day, the group stopped at Wunnenstein for breakfast before stopping in Bayreuth for lunch. In the evening the tour group reached their hotel in Lübbenau, where the surrounding nature and culture awaited them.

The second day was all about a three-hour boat trip through the idyllic Spreewald, followed by a visit to the cucumber museum. In the evening event, participants experienced an entertaining folklore program that brought regional traditions to life.

Explore culture and nature

On the third day the group visited the city of Cottbus. The informative city tour offered the participants interesting insights before they explored the impressive gardens of Branitz Castle. On the fourth day the trip took us to the Lusatian Lake District, including a tour of Lake Senftenberg on the boat “Santa Barbara”, which lasted one and a half hours. The travelers learned a lot about open-cast mining and the formation of the lakes in the region.

After a coffee break at the Confiserie Felicitas in Hornow, where there was a lecture about chocolate production, the return journey began on the fifth day. A cozy get-together at the Rössle inn in Irslingen rounded off the eventful trip. Chairman H-J Ohmke thanked both the participants and the bus team Bruno and Janette for their support.

The trip to Spreewald not only offered numerous cultural experiences, but also the opportunity to enjoy the region's quiet nature and fresh air. Like from bayern.vdk.de reports, such trips are popular: the winter experiences in the Spreewald, such as chimney barge rides or visits to Christmas markets in the area, attract many travelers.

In this sense, the VdK's next trip could also include other unique experiences in the Spreewald, including the Striezelmarkt in Dresden or other regional events. Interested participants can contact the responsible contact persons.

The articles about the experiences are written by clubs, parishes, schools and kindergartens and carefully checked by the editorial team. However, the publisher assumes no liability for the accuracy of all information, as stated in schwaebische.de noted.
