Vietnam: Smart tourism ecosystems are revolutionizing the industry!
The Vietnamese government is intensifying its digital transformation efforts in the tourism sector to create a synchronous and unified smart tourism ecosystem. The aim is to develop common digital platforms for data concentration and synchronization that will be applied in three main areas: government administration, business activities in the field of tourist services and improving the tourist experience. A key aspect of this initiative is the development of multiple digital platforms. This includes the Vietnam Tourism Database System, which manages information about travel companies, accommodation establishments, guides and tourist attractions. Other key tools include statistical reporting software and the national tourism application “Vietnam Travel”, which serves as a multi-service platform for tourists, including information, bookings and payments.
Innovative platforms and training
In addition to the “Vietnam Travel” app, the Viet Card – a smart travel card for cashless payments – will be integrated into the platform. The Tourism Management and Business application helps tourism companies maintain customer contacts and enable online payments. An electronic ticketing system and a multimedia guidance system are also being planned to optimize ticket sales and provide information to tourists.
Another focus of the strategy is supporting training for local tourism establishments and companies to drive digital transformation. Specifically, “Guidelines for digital transformation in the tourism industry” will be developed and digital communication channels such as websites and social networks will be promoted in order to make Vietnamese tourism internationally visible. The website vietnam.travel, which took second place in Southeast Asia in March 2025, plays an essential role in this.
