Space adventures and cinematic treats: This week's DVD highlights!

On September 19, 2025, three exciting films will be released on DVD and Blu-ray, including the much anticipated animated film “Elio”. This production comes from Pixar Animation Studios and is published by Walt Disney Pictures. The film is directed by Madeline Sharafian, Domee Shi and Adrian Molina, making it another addition to the impressive list of Pixar films. The film's plot follows 11-year-old Elio Solís, who is accidentally beamed to an intergalactic convention as Earth's representative. With an exciting cast that includes Matthias Schweighöfer as the alien ambassador Tegmen, Elio overcomes numerous challenges while making bizarre alien friends. The price for the DVD is around 13 euros and the film has a running time of 94 minutes. Giessen General reports that the film will be released on September 19, 2025.

Interestingly, “Elio” previously debuted at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood on June 10, 2025 and was released in US theaters on June 20, 2025. Despite a worldwide box office gross of $154 million, which barely exceeded production costs of $150 million to $200 million, it was the lowest opening weekend for a Pixar film at $20.8 million. However, reviews were mostly positive, with 83 percent positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and a Metacritic score of 66, indicating generally favorable reviews. Viewers gave the film a high from CinemaScore and 83 percent positive reviews on PostTrak.
